Pedant alert: The album was released to massive indifference in 1991. Two Princes was the second single, released in early 1993. I know, because my life experiences in 91 and 93 were vastly different, and I know where I was when Two Princes was inescapable.

    As you were.

I actually liked Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong quite a bit and still do.

I took a roadtrip while i was in college where the Spin Doctors cassette got stuck in my tape player and that’s all we could listen to for the entire length of florida and back. I still can’t listen to them.

That happened to my friends and I with a CASSETTE SINGLE of Guns and Roses You Could Be Mine with Civil War as the b-side. But we listened to it rather than silence. Go figure

Yeah, it was preferable to silence obviously, who wants to converse with your carmates?

Still, I can’t hear Two Princes with out having flashbacks.

Hate to disagree with the man himself, but there’s no way we’re still on “dibi”s by the end. It’s clearly devolved into more of a “dobodopo” by then.

Whenever we’re listening to 90s Pandora, my wife and I play the “Two Princes or Semi-Charmed Life?” game, seeing if we can guess right before the vocals kick in. Usually we can’t. See also “Santeria/Under the Bridge,” “Dream On/Don’t Speak.”

I’m guessing neither you nor your wife play drums, because if you did there’s no way you’d have any problem with that first pairing—the piccolo snare Comess uses for 2P is crazy tight. Nothing else sounds quite like it.

Most punchable things about this guy:

    1. that fucking hat

    2. bidipbidip

    3. if you want to buy me flaaaahs/ and if you’d like to talk for haaaaahs

    Guitar solo is still great.

That hat really is something else, people actually wore those things unironically once?

Wife and I got married in August 2011. We honeymooned on Maui, and it turned out that the Spin Doctors had a concert outside our hotel one of the nights. We weren’t expecting it, and got to enjoy the whole thing from our balcony. Needless to say, it was an awesome evening.

I can play the riff from Refrigerator Car if requested. Thats never happened, but even so....

Never really got the hate for this band. Surely there were worse bands around at the time? Fairly decent guitar pop. I was looking forward to their next album. Then i heard Cleopatras Cat and, no, no thank you.

Whenever this song arises, I’ll never not chuckle, remembering The Sarah Silverman Program’s shocking reveal that “Two Princes” is the *only* song on notorious metalhead Brian Posehn’s iPod!!

Not a great band by any stretch, but still fun. Saw them twice back in the 90s... One time just them; the other time on a bill with Cracker, Toad the Wet Sprocket and Gin Blossoms. Very fun shows.

      Definitely. I miss those days.

Cracker still tours quite a bit. Lowery will sometimes do two sets: 1 with Cracker and 1 with CvB. I believe Toad still plays occasionally as well.

I think the change in the wording would take it from him being a good sport into asshole territory...I really like that he clearly takes none of it too seriously.
