Sure, this was derivative (not just Groundhog Day, but the space-time gak hitting Zari in the face was right out of Edge of Tomorrow) but the episode never shied away from the recognition, and had a ball doing it. Note to the rest of the Arrowverse, especially Arrow: not every episode of a season has to focus on the season’s Big Bad. That makes the Big Bad kinda boring in a hurry (which, somehow, The Flash did with The Thinker). Other points:

    • Not just the disco outfits, but the bright blue eye shadow (and pink lipstick on Sara) were perfect callbacks to the Euro-pop disco look of the 1970s.
    • Mick wearing glasses is great. If the writers can do a whole episode of Mick wearing glasses while undercover, go for it. If not, then keep it to a minimum to keep it pleasant.
    • When Zari said “Mama Mia!” at the beginning, I tried to find other ABBA references and struck out. Anyone else find others?
    • The episode was nothing like the trailer from last week made it out to be, so kudos to the production team for a great surprise.
    • My first thought of the “fun montage” was actually Stargate SG-1's “Window of Opportunity”, which did a healthy amount of fan service and was genuinely funny (O’Neill hitting golf balls through the gate is hard to top).

Mick’s reading glasses always remind me of those rare times Homer Simpson would pull out a pair, and for both characters they’re always hilarious.

Note to the rest of the Arrowverse, especially Arrow: not every episode of a season has to focus on the season’s Big Bad. That makes the Big Bad kinda boring in a hurry (which, somehow, The Flash did with The Thinker).

But most of The Flash’s episodes are fillers though, like ep. 11, 12, and most of the first half of this season. The reason why The Thinker is boring is that he basically just did nothing while Barry was imprisoned, then after he absorbed all the bus metas’ powers, he (would, presumably) do nothing again. And he keeps changing bodies ..........to do what? Plus his ‘master’ plan isn’t revealed yet (which makes sense since we’re still in ep.13->14) so we still don’t know the full picture here. Plus the fillers are fun and enjoyable to me (not as fun as LoT of course).

As for Arrow, ep. 3 and the Deathstroke two-parter were fillers, then ep. 10-13 was basically a Cayden James arc/Dark Knight-rip-off trilogy, and the 2 episodes after that smell fillers (based on the synopsis). And the real ‘big bad’ was revealed to be Ricardo Diaz who was in the background so far, so we are yet to know whether he is boring or not (tho I don’t have high hope). Arrow does has a tighter plot (though not that good) this season and seems to be the case as it goes each season (than Flash).

Also, on the contrary, if each season has many fillers, people would complain: “There are too many fillers! They need more ‘big bad’ episodes!).

I was sad it wasn’t a legitimate time loop, but at least we saw Gideon again.

I still believe Gary is proto-Mallus simply because why does that nerd keep showing up?

The gag with Zari holding up the cue cards while Mick and Ray talked was brilliant.

Gary as Mallus would be the best twist ever. Is the dorky incompetence just part of his cover?

Nah, Gary was just in the simulation because Gideon thought it would be funny (and correctly!)

Normally, I hate Groundhog Day episodes (nearly every sci-fi show does one, eventually), but this one was fun. This and Xena’s Been There, Done That are the only ones I’ve liked.

Oh, I think they’re fun - especially if the show knows how to put a good spin on it.

My favorites are probably TNG’s ‘Cause and Effect’, X-Files’s ‘Monday’, and Supernatural’s ‘Mystery Spot.’

It would have been great to have a montage of Zari describing the situation to each Legend and having them respond “Oh, just like _____” but each with a different comparison.

Zari is one of The Six ... but to me, she is a ten.

    Seriously I love Zari.

Also I am glad that they have resisted giving her a romantic interest so far on the show. She and Ray have a thing where she is flirtily annoyed with him sort of like Myka and Pete on Warehouse 13 ... but I always liked them better as friends/ partners, too.

Zari is great. I was shocked when people said they didn’t like her. She’s sarcastic and smart and wants to right all the wrongs, what’s not to love?

I think she could like Ray as a friend, but would have a hard time not just wanting to punch him a lot of the time.

This is the best show in the Arrowverse without question and they’ve brought it week after week so far this season. That’s how you do a bottle episode!

There were so many great beats in this episode but the cue cards gag had me cracking up the most.

Though you probably don’t need a time loop to predict that one.

If a few years ago somebody had told me that a one-time Superman actor playing Ray Palmer by way of Ted Kord and 2 Broke Girls’ Max’s ex playing a dude-bro Citizen Steel would be two of my favorite TV characters ever, I wouldn’t have believed it. Yet here we are.

Nate offhandedly referring to Ray as his “best friend” was a nice & earned moment. Their relationship is very sweet and while both can be annoying they sort of bring out the heroic, unselfish best in each other.

Zari playing the violin beautifully at the end was an homage to the all-time greatest sci-fi show episode, ST: TNG’s “The Inner Light” & Picard with the flute. Yes that was the perfect capper to a wonderful episode & got me in the feels.

Also from her live-tweet of the episode, Tala Ashe really plays the violin! So I totally forgive the weirdness of shoehorning that in.

Well it’s definitely a Star Trek episode. There’s some pretty stiff competition from the other Trek shows. (Specifically thinking of “Far Beyond the Stars” and “In the Pale Moonlight”)

Mick’s eyes during Zari’s monologue saying he should not hide his love of writing was hilarious.

Always great to see Gideon real life form. She has a great sense of humour. When she played oblivious to Zari telling Sara and Ray about her GroundHog Day experience was another highlight.

Mick typing his apparently brilliantly terrible sci-fi romance novel on a typewriter with the one finger hunt and peck method ... is weirdly perfect, as is that he kept the manuscript under a tight security protocol that included bear traps, safe-type encryption, and bank-type exploding blue dye.

Using that woman for a voice-only performance seems like a waste. (And from her IMDB it looks like she does a lot of voice work.)

    • “Please give us a flashback to this episode’s off-screen musical number.”

    Dear sweet baby Cthulhu!

The cast of Legends isn’t like The Flash or Supergirl with at least 2 cast members with known singing talent. Amusingly bad train wreck is about the only result I can picture here. Unless Dominic Purcell has been hiding a lovely singing voice on us. That would be hilarious beyond belief.

This is when Legends of Tomorrow became my favorite Arrowverse show. This episode was so much fun, not even the fact that it was obviously on a budget brought it down. Zari’s fun montage might’ve been my favorite part of the episode.
