FreeRadical, that was adorable. It was also weird. Because asking a prominent writer if you can quote lyrics that say nigga in them, while using the same platform that literally has a section called Black Twitter that’s been saying for over 9 years that “no white person should say nigga” kind of endorses Michael’s point of how white privliege really makes you all blind to reality until you feel like it personally affects you. So just know, a simple Twitter or Google search would have gotten your results. But your heart is in the right place.

I’m going to respond to “Gary” (how fucking appropriate - of course this guy’s a Gary) in my capacity as a white person, just to clarify for everyone: no white person has ever actually been offended by being called a cracker or hearing someone else being called a cracker. It is 100% feigned, at all times, without exception, and just seized upon as an excuse to pretend that it’s just so exactly like being called that other word. Period. I hope no one is fooled by Gary and his sort for one moment about this.

  Now, maybe I’m biased because I literally do not understand the compulsion to post lyrics to songs on Facebook. (Like, um, ok? You and your friends really like a song so you rewrite the words to the actual song and put it in a public place because.....why now?) And I really REALLY don’t understand how putting a few asterisks in something THAT IS NOT YOUR ORIGINAL WRITING is in any way a lessening of THEIR creative output.
  But I still think he’s lying. Because even with the flimsy-ass excuse he has for why he thinks it might be so goddamn important to get this question answered, what the fuck is the driving need that so many white people have to say (or write) this word? He’s not really asking if it’s ok, he’s asking for the reason why it isn’t ok.

It’s that attitude that is likely to burn the entire world down, if one judges from the SVB and FSB landing merrily on the shores from which they were supposed to be sanctioned and meeting with the godd*mn CIA director and IQ45 putting his orange feet on the furniture in the White House. I went to HS with plenty of his type, he already knew the answer was no but he was just hoping against hope that youd give him some sort of magical scenario in which it would be okay because youre his friend. She assumed that I would jump to the opportunity and she was stunned by my lack of interest. Two crackers aware of that ended up saying that I might be impotent or a racist.

  Ive had to do that myself. IM the one who gets decide whether or not we’re friends. There was a white lady at my job who made overtures of friendship to me, but I’ve decided that I’m putting a limit on how many white friends I have at a time, and she lucked out. She was snarky and offended that I didn’t want her friendship. I do suspect she wanted to be friends solely for her own benefit, and not mine, because I don’t think she has any black friends. She doesn’t seem like the kind of white woman who would have black friends.
  I say this all the time. There’s only so many of us black folk to go around. Not all of y’all gonna get a black friend, some of us are choosy, and sometimes you’re the kind of white person who nobody black wants to be friends with.

The continual fishing for a hall pass to be a racist piece of shit is the most tiring style of being a bigot.
I just had a situation where a White coworker decided to pretend to be surprised that White peoples narratives about colonialism are all complete lies and undersell the amount of pure, unfettered malice that White people had for anyone non-White. I rolled my eyes and sighed. If it took you until midway through your 20s to figure out that White people are and have been awful, I have nothing to say to you.
And then he got in his feelings when I clearly stated that I had no interest continuing this conversation with him. Because the conversation is going to inevitably lead back to “Well I’m not a Nazi and I wouldn’t have been one of thosebad White people!” and “It was a long time ago and we’re cool, right?”
White people, yes, you would have been one of those bad White people and no, we aren’t cool. Continuing to play dumb and act like you have no idea what all of these issues are and pretending not to know how to fix it is beyond tiresome. We’re not going to absolve you of your White guilt. Fuck off.
