Well damn...I didn’t see this one happening.
I just really hope the exile cuban community doesn’t celebrate this the same way they did with the dad.
Because that odd parade was happening down the street from me, and all i kept thinking was: “Where’s the victory? He died of old age, his empire is still around!”

Also to note, If the “Díaz-Balart” name sounds familiar is because he’s from the same “Díaz-Balart” family as U.S. representative Mario Díaz-Balart, former representative Lincoln Díaz-Balart (both from Florida) and Noticias Telemundo anchor and Saturday NBC Nightly News anchor Jose Díaz-Balart (who also hosted on MSNBC). They are cousins.

A movement was made not too long ago to get away from the term “commit suicide” and use “died by suicide” to help those with suicidal thoughts realize that suicide shouldn’t be a taboo subject and they should not feel bad about talking to others about their thoughts. Also, if in any article mentioning suicide, could you put a link/ contact information for people who could help?

It would mean a great deal if The Root would assist in these ways to help remove the stigma around suicide.

Much love to you all, and if you are in crisis, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or contact the Crisis Text Line by texting TALK to 741741.
