But it was the revelation that the supervisor of the unit instructed officers to carry a toy gun just in case they found themselves “in a jam” and needed to plant one.

Yet people want to say that it’s just a few bad apples, right? Police forces seem to attract the very worse. These “officers” aren’t just crooked, they are morally and spiritually bankrupt.

You know what gets me? That whole “A Few Bad Apples” defense? It forgets the next like “A few bad apples... spoil the whole bunch.”. These departments, a LOT of departments, need to have a whole house cleaning, down to the fucking floor boards. Rip out all the training material. Rip out the senior officers. Start it over, from fucking scratch if you have to. These fuckers are rotten from the inside. It’s time to start over.

Well this is a great way to kick off Black History Month. Oh remember if you don’t support the cops you hate law enforcement and don’t love America but if you trash The FBI and insult the wife of the No. 2 at the agency that is presidential.

...So its A-OK now folks!! :/

Chicago cops buy real guns to plant on suspects to justify shootings, arrest persons they want to arrest, etc. So, this is hardly surprising.

Source: I knew a (illegal) gun dealer who sold 1/3 of his guns to Chicago cops.

That shit is SOP. Drop guns and drop knives. The toy gun things is even more sinister because you gotta think they’re mostly planting those on kids. The veteran dealers are probably armed anyway and finding a toy gun on random adult citizen is likely to raise a lot of questions.

Same for L.A. After the Rampart scandal in the late 1990's a Hollywood script that had been floating around for over 10 years finally became a major motion picture, called “Training Day.”

The silver lining is that L.A. came out of the scandal (along with many others) with better policing and fewer inexcusable shootings.

This is infuriating. I’m going to guess that even if a federal judge rules that there is a clear cut case of corruption that everyone these officers arrested in their career history won’t get their cases reexamined.

And, yes, this is just what the police do. Hell, this is why people apply to be police officers in the first place.

Nor will there be restitution for the families of people killed by police who “feared for their lives” when they “saw” a person holding a gun.

You know what is missing in this story? The fact that people still call the police. Never, ever, ever, call the police. You and your loved ones are in danger of being killed or jailed just for assuming that you, if you are black or brown, can use the armed State militia to help you. You can’t. You call and YOU are recognized as the enemy, first and foremost and, as a result your life is in immediate danger.

    Do not call the police.

Stopping someone who’s running is unreasonable search and seizure anyway. It’s not evidence of a crime, it’s evidence of not wanting to be near the Police.

If the courts can rule that in X area code running is suspicious (‘cause poor, and POC), but that in Y area code it was probably just nerves or something someone with a legal degree should sue; because it’s pretty well fucking proven that Cops are a health hazard for POC and poor or mentally ill white people.

Tell that to the Baltimore City jury that hung on the charges against one of the officers in the Gray case, the judge who let a couple more off the hook and the police trial board that cleared all of them. And look up what a Terry stop is.

I know all that, and in my opinion “detention short of probably cause to arrest” ie a Terry Stop, is a violation  of our Constitutional rights, though Unreasonable Search and Seizure is sadly not very clearly defined.

However, running from Police in absence of other evidence does not provide Probable Cause to make an arrest and it for damn sure doesn’t justify firing on a running 13 yr old, possibly also endangering bystanders.

I don’t really have much to say to these juries who fetishize and pardon cops no matter what, or because they secretly (or publicly) hate Black people and think selling loose cigarettes or playing with a toy gun in a park is grounds for Police to terminate your ass.

Fuck a bad apple, the whole orchard has been bad since it was founded. The fact that people will still bump their gums about respecting police drives me crazy. TV isn’t real! They don’t give a fuck about their communities or solving crimes! These fucks just want to get fat off a public paycheck and abuse their power until they can retire and get a grossly inflated pension.

Denziel was the lead in that film.

Police are the biggest, most successful gangbangers in US history. But I’m sure this is just a few bad apples...

And then there’s the revelation that the supervisor of the unit instructed officers to carry a toy gun just in case they found themselves “in a jam” and needed to plant one.

Or a bad orchard. Burn the whole thing to the ground.
