Yeah, you aren’t supposed to pose for unofficial photos* or make statements in uniform, since it generally either appears to be an endorsement by the Armed forces or it falls under conduct unbecoming of an Officer. You are also certainly not (while Enlisted) allowed to make public, defamatory statements about the US Gov or your fellow service-people.
*Weddings, Funerals, Graduations are generally fine, don’t stand next to the keg though.

  It’s slow to phase out, but the military is where ‘female’ still gets used a lot, particularly as a modifier for gender-neutral/pre-open enlistment terms like Soldier, Airman, Marine, Sailor. Still problematic as fuck, but as the standards improve so does the language

  Can I complain about this or will I catch hell for it? I use male and female a lot. I don’t say “men” and “females”. I’m a woman (female!) and a feminist and I don’t completely understand why this is a thing now. I generally use these terms so I don’t have to specify between “men and boys” or “women and girls” or “guys and gals”. So I can understand making an issue of it when it’s dudes constantly referring to women this way like they’re some non-human species, but does everyone need to get scolded for this now? I can’t be the only one chafing against this.

First of all...if someone is a military rank where their subordinates are required to follow their commands, why the hell isn’t the higher rank just getting on them for being insubordinate. It doesn’t matter what race they are, get in their face.
Secondly...if you are going to be foolish enough to generalize all people of a certain race, orientation, religion, etc, because of some people you are angry about...just key your mouth closed. As human beings, any number of stupid thoughts can flood into our minds.
IT DOES NOT MEAN YOU SHOULD TELL EVERYONE YOUR THOUGHTS.
