Damn. This looks nothing like the comic strip.

Really didn’t like this film. I think as an Israeli it’s just harder not to notice how un-authentic everything is and how unrelated to reality most of this is (and especially any part with soldiers in it), but that may not be a problem for international viewers. Great cinematoprphy though.

I found the plot contrivances distracting and the grief strangely unaffecting. Maybe I’m heartless, but without any context at the time, the husband’s hysterical despair inspired annoyance rather than empathy.

And yeah, the distracting camera angles and jarring noises didn’t help.

A solid A for me—one of the best films I saw all year.

Haven’t read almost any of this as I don’t want so much as a hint of a spoiler for this movie. Having watched the teaser trailer and flicked through the Guardian’s review of it a few months back, I have the vague feeling this could be one of those few strange, daring and ambitious films that come out every couple of years and that actually fulfils its ambitions. I just want to strap myself for the ride as soon as it’s out over here, without knowing any more about it.
