Ugh. Thanks, I hate it. Anyone remember when superheroes were fun?

Unbeatable Squirrel Girl comes out every month. But you would probably complain about that being too much fun.

You see, comics can have a vast range of tones, much like movies and other forms of fiction. One comic can be serious, while another comic can be funny, while another comic can balance the two. But this is all common sense stuff I’m saying, so I suspect you already know this and just wanted to complain for the sake of complaining.

this is much better than I thought it would one - the narration and black panels are very clever. Good art too.

But what’s with the green stripes?

That’s how her tribal tattoos came out. When I asked her what tribe, she said something about getting baked in Mexico and waking up with them.

So to answer your question, I don’t know.

I love the Charles Soule/Javier Pulido She-Hulk - maybe the last Big 2 title I read that wasn’t Squirrel Girl? Does this have anything to do with that, or do I have to go back to remembering why I despise the Big 2?

(Short answer: because the stories must forever be open-ended, no arc - no matter how much you love it - will ever remain canon forever. Eventually everything you loved about a character will be gone, and they’ll stumble-on, Ship-Of-Theseus style, acting like they’re the same.)

Huuuuuge She-Hulk fan. Got complete runs of all her Byrne-and-upwards series, with Dan Slott’s stint being my favorite incarnation.

But I avoided this one because grimdark Shulkie isn’t something that interested me. But...but now, I’m kinda tempted.

Any long-time fans have an opinion? (Sava’s tastes on spandex books often don’t align with mine, so I’d like more input.)

The first storyarc I thought was good and a really nice exploration of PTSD. The second storyarc was...not quite as good (it involved a YouTube cooking show) and I think went on too long. But I think Tamaki has, so far, kicked as with her characterization of Jen.

I know this will never happen, but couldn’t they have just left it “Jennifer Walters - Hulk”? Or just a new name. “She-Hulk” or “Shulk” makes the character always feel like a second-hand character, always a reference to someone else, when she’s obviously top tier.

Because she’s a distaff character who gets her powers from a blood transplant from an original character, the Hulk. What’s wrong with “She-Hulk”? and ‘Shulkie’ is adorable.

Tamaki’s run has really grown on me, though the messing with titles and numbers bothers me more than it should, for some reason.

Oh, so the whole Grey She-Hulk gimmick is still going on?
Thanks for letting me know, now I know to keep holding off until this premise runs out.

At first blush, I didn’t care for it but when I actually took a chance to read it, it was pretty good. That said, dare I risk my heart on another She-Hulk series?

Thank you for taking the time to read the full issue, even when your first reaction was dislike. With that in mind I’d say that you should dive on into the series. Like with the previous issue, you’ll never know until you try. Sample a few issues... if you like it, great! If not, that’s fine... at least you gave the series a fair chance.
