    Josh Lyman for president.

Also, I wonder what Trump’s neo-nazi fans have to say about the Jerusalem situation?

    Richard Spencer is probably crying.

Many Christian conservatives with anti semitic prejudice tolerate or even support Israel, because it’s an occidental bastion in the middle of many Muslim countries, and they hate Iran or these other countries even more than they’re biased against Jews. Andrew Breitbart was raised a Jew (he was actually adopted), even if he grew up to be agnostic, and when he started his website with Bannon, it was about defending the US and Israel against the worldwide threat of Islam.

The Jerusalem situation is mostly the result of huge changes in Saudi Arabia. The heir to the throne is getting rid of the old guard, and focuses on counteracting Iranian (and Shiite) influence over the whole Middle East. So, he’s open to dropping the Palestinians, after decades of ideological and financial support, and in particular the claim for Jerusalem East to be the capital of their country, because of the growing importance there of the Islamic Jihad, fueled by the implantation of Iran in Syria.

That’s why, even if Trump is taking another ill-thought decision with zero support from other major countries, he takes advantage for once of a big change of heart that has little to do with him.

Has this show completely given up on its original premise at this point? I’ve never sat down and watched an actual episode, but a few weeks ago, I caught some commercials in which Kiefer Sutherland said something to the effect of “if this happens, it will be America’s worst terrorist attack since 9/11.”

Umm, shouldn’t it be the worst terrorist attack since the Capitol was blown up, killing the entire government? Or is there some plot nuance there that I’m unclear about.

Designated Survivor has gone through four (!) showrunners since it started and so it went from “elected US government has been wiped out” to “crap West Wing knockoff” while passing through “manhunt show” and “presidential family semi-drama” variants. It’s like the Trump government now - not very good, but the lead reminds you of the ‘80s in a warped way, and everything is on autopilot.

I had a revelation while I was watching last week’s episode that Designated Survivor, especially with whats-his-face doing the press briefing, is more-or-less The West Wing, if it were envisioned by far less talented writers than Aaron Sorkin.

Season one sure did not start out like the West Wing Show.

That’s what so jarring about the show now that they’ve resolved the conspiracy plot line. I’m glad they didn’t drag it out which very well could have happened...

It was good to see POTUS finally accept that committing a felony is a big deal, and should maybe have consequences.

Now it’d be nice for him to concede that Hanah and FBI Dude’s insistence on doggedly following evidence about Lloyd wherever it led, even to very powerful people, is exactly what saved the day last season.

If the MIL is being framed by Lloyd, it’s even more important for the FBI to be on it, and by covering for the MIL, they’re directly colluding with Lloyd.

    I fear for Chuck.

    No! Not Chuck! Noooooooooooo!!!
