No Jax, don’t go! His departure felt somewhat final, though I hope it isn’t. The timing of Franz Drameh leaving the show an episode after Victor Garber leaves feels a lot like the show deciding to take this opportunity to acknowledge that Firestorm never really worked as a character due to being overpowered (for story reasons) and budgetary restrictions.

This episode was the most I have ever liked Agent Sharpe, not just because of her obviously falling under Sara’s spell, and being useful, but also her Lagartha cosplay.

Mick’s animosity toward puppets in general and the blue puppet “god” in particular was fantastic. As great as him pummeling Snart’s therapy puppet and incinerating the Viking puppet god was, my favorite moment w/ that was him as he was being prepared for execution (by being burned to death, appropriately enough) and seeing the blue puppet carried by, him looking down and shaking his head at how stupid it was.

I do feel like they never knew how to use Firestorm in action scenes, and not just in terms of budget. He’s too big of a big gun, and they always had him just fly about in the background being relatively ineffective.

I really hope he isn’t gone for good, I like Jax. And there’s logical story reasons to keep him around, even without a super power: he’s the only person who knows how to fix the Waverider.

If you would’ve told me that this bonkers ass show would eventually be the best show in the DCTV universe when it premiered I would’ve laughed you out; and yet here we are. The cold open alone provided me with one of the heartiest laughs that I’ve had all week and pretty much every thing that followed was aces. Watching vikings worship a battery powered stuffed animal is the type of batshit content material that I need in my life and I can’t wait for February to continue the madness.

P.S. I hope to GOD that Constantine’s appearance on the Waverider isn’t just a one off and that he sticks around at least until Mallus gets dealt with.

I mean, I’ve always thought the potential for this series was there, but it was indeed disappointing in its first season. But I would’ve never expected it to be this great, either!

It’s funny. On one end of the spectrum, we have the excellence of Agents of SHIELD, while on the other end we have Legends and Gotham. All three are amazing in their own right, but it’s really ironic that the best show Marvel has is one that’s not afraid to keep upping the stakes in a real way and let its characters grow, just the opposite of the MCU movies. Meanwhile, DC’s best shows are the ones with utter irreverence to anything else besides being comic book-y to the extreme.

I think Agents of SHIELD works because the head honchos aren’t really involved. From what I can tell, they’ve mostly stepped away from it, and since it’s not part of the film universe or the Defenders-verse, then it’s been able to thrive as its own thing, and its showrunners aren’t having to work as hard with larger continuity (and without creative interference).

I think Arrowverse works in a way the DCEU hasn’t been able to manage is because, like the MCU, it kind of came together by accident and grew organically with each new entry (as opposed to Warner Bros which has been trying to push shared universe with early entries and has failed spectacularly).

I love the MCU, and I’m still rooting for the DCEU to succeed, but it is interesting to see how the different successes and failures have panned out.

I probably laughed harder at the image of Beebo on a palanquin than I ever have at anything else on this series. Even for LoT, that was new levels of batshit insane.

Can Leo PLEASE join the main cast. I’m just loving sensitive, good-guy Snart, and he brings such a great and interesting energy to the group, especially Mick.

Loving where this is going with Sharpe - she gelled really well with the crew tonight, and I’m liking more and more the idea of her potentially being a love interest for Sara.

Sad about Jax leaving.  Really hope it’s not permanent.  :(

Funniest moment in the whole Arrowverse that I can think of.

I’m torn. On one hand, that’s definitely gonna happen and it’ll be great. On the other, she just mentioned Nyssa during the crossover, which I’d still like to see, and it made me again wonder why they never went and picked her up. With the League disbanded, the character has literally nothing to do.

Well, Sara mentioned Nyssa to Alex in the crossover, but in the context of Nyssa being “her Maggie,” so her intense first love, who she eventually realized wasn’t the right person for her to be with.

    - I absolutely loved the Martin puppet scene. Every reaction was gold, inclung the final one with Jax where he gave Leo a great “Dude, WTF?” face and Leo quickly realized that the puppet would not be the best thing.

    - No joke, somebody on Twitter was pissed with this episode because they thought the only reason they made this episode is because of Thor Ragnarok, even if the characters were in public domain.

    - I found the whole “Time Bureau lets Darhk and Grodd win” plot to be annoyingly thrown aside. I almost wish this was a two-parter just to explore that a bit more. Just the fact that if the Legends hadn’t done anything they would have let the bad guys win and change history drastically. Would have liked to have seen snippets of Flash and Arrow under New Valhalla and a China ruled by Grodd.

    - I am rather thankful (and my now-passed-away mom was even moreso) that I never really wanted any of the huge must-have toys so she never truly went through this, not that she would have anyway (if she had to, she would’ve said no). The only exceptions were not because of high demand, but because of low demand. Case in point, my mom had to travel to many different stores to find a figure of Storm from the original X-Men line because it was the only one left from the wave I didn’t have.

    - I found it both hilarious and odd that they were playing Mortal Kombat 2 instead of Mortal Kombat X. Would have thought at least Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.

    - So, now that Jax is gone...who’s in charge of the Waverider’s upkeep? Ray’s a scientist, not an engineer. Is it Rory?

    - I wonder if Stein would have still burned the letter if Jax told him he would die when his grandkid was still a baby. I’m a little surprised that was never blurted out.

I thought Waverider was self sufficient, that Gideon could fix any damage herself but that it took her longer to do so than it did Jax and that’s why he became the ship’s mechanic (trying hard to ignore the Panthro angle)

Gideon can fix internal program stuff by herself, but I don’t think she has appendages to fix physical issues, which she needs people for.

John Constantine appears at the end of this episode to ask for Sara’s help stopping a demon that has possessed a little girl, but we’re going to have to wait two months for Legends’ riff on The Exorcist when it returns in February.

Oh shit. I might actually be scared of the next episode.

God I hope so. I miss the Constantine show.

Apparently when this show returns in February it will move to Mondays, behind Supergirl (since Black Lightning is going to be in the post-Flash timeslot).

Which I think is fine, though I do wish they would stop moving LoT around. But in a way of course it is a compliment. The CW does that with Supernatural all the time too, since it has proven it will perform consistently wherever they put it.

Omg talking pluche. I thought The Furby (Beeboo is totally a copycat) wasn’t invented until 1998. And boy were they annoying. Yoo? Looks like i discovered an anachronism. So damn huggable.

    Illustration for article titled

Wait, what? I thought the statue was a gift from France or something? I better not overthink this.

Let me guess. You saw there was a level 12 anachronism and you’re calling me to lecture me on everything that we’re doing wrong

Stop with the flirting already. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t make out. But this is making me hopeful.

Well of course Stein wouldn’t cheat death. And Jax should have known that. They were psychically linked. Grief does strange things to people. And so he’s leaving. It’s kind of sad but fitting.

    Constantine. Yay.

Can i take the waverider and go to... Damn it i don’t know the date. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will resume Season 3 at a new night and date TBA. Damn you The CW.

I kinda assumed Tickle me elmo, which was still 96 so still a few years in the future.

The statue itself is Lady Liberty the roman goddess of liberty, so if you did over think it, it would mean concurring the new land so early made norse gods even more popular than roman ones.

Also, “Odin’s Day” was an anachronism, even though we already have “Wednesday” which is the English translation.

I cracked up at how Sara and Sharpe’s flirting was almost a perfect mirror to Sara and Alex’s meeting, down to Sara’s curious head tilt at the “I’m not really the husband kind” line.

Damn you, Stein and Jax, for making me feel things even without Victor Garber there. I really did not expect that to become one of my favorite relationships in the Arrowverse. And I do hope Jax comes back--I’m gonna miss him, especially the kid-brother thing he had going on with Sara.

Beebo’s resurrection turned this episode from good to great.

No, the point was to establish how historical events sometimes get embellished and the facts lost to history. Grodd is not that big but I’m sure he seemed that way to whomever witnessed his attack on the wall.
