Firmly on the entire other side of this, actually.

    - Sandiland was great as the Thinker. The new guy... I mean, he’ll probably be fine, but we didn’t get much of a sense of him so all that really happened was the character becoming more CW-appropriate.

    - They have very blatantly been setting Barry up for a fall all season, but this is way more interesting than I was honestly expecting from the show at this point. Barry’s worst behavior has been when he uses saving other people as an excuse, so putting him in trouble like this feels like a genuinely new situation that...well, there’s at least potential here, which is more than could usually be said. Plus, if they tried to play it like “Oh, did Barry actually do it?” it would be dumb as hell.

    - Also: Caitlin’s slyly metatextual acknowledgment of how everyone feels about her metahuman side was surprisingly nuanced as well, even if it did just result in lots of reassuring pats on the shoulder. At the very least it displayed some awareness of how tricky trying to make her character more interesting actually is, rather than just a dumb lamp-shading thing like they do with the security system.

That said, the idea of Barry trying to speed-cram Devoe’s body under his couch or whatever is so ridiculous I do kind of wish they’d, like, had him swap bodies with Dibny or something just so we could see that happen.

I’m with you. Sandilands’s performance was pretty interesting to me, and I hope we haven’t seen the last of him now that the body swap has happened.

Barry choosing to face the consequences of the frame job was an interesting touch, too. It’s much more compelling than him becoming a fugitive moving forward, and I’m looking forward to hearing his rationale. Off the top of my head, he could realize that going on the run would put Joe, Iris, and everyone else in the CCPD’s crosshairs, and that the Thinker probably has a backup plan.

Katee Sackhoff left me a little flat this time around.

I have no idea what the hell The Thinker is doing. He has plenty of smarts but no damn common sense.

Poor Dominic, we hardly knew ye...unless there’s a way Team Flash can get you out of the Sunken Place (or Jordan Peele sues the shit out of the CW, which ever comes first)

Wally’s in Cambodia? You know what, I don’t want to know.

Daddy Josh will be pissed if he finds out about that box, Cisco

I don’t know what’s more annoying, Ralph or his bland suit.

I really want the writers to do better. I agree with Scott, you insulted the hell out us with DeVoe’s planting his own body Barry’s place and not letting the World’s Fastest Man get rid of the evidence

Also, DeVoe’s in Barry’s house! How is Barry getting arrested? Nevermind.

The continued benching of Wally is bizarre and infuriating, but I guess is par for the course for how the non-Barry speedsters are treated on this show. Poor Jessie Quick might as well not exist anymore (they didn’t invite her to the wedding???)

Given this network of sites, I’m sure there will be some article somewhere about how racist the show is for having a white guy take over a black guy and have the black guy as the Big Bad of the season.

I actually don’t mind that Dibny’s still a jerkass and making so many inappropriate comments. Adds a bit of spice to the group. Yea, have him mature and develop and all, but I hope his insensitive parts never go completely away.

Also, no mention of Mick giving Barry and Iris 40 toasters that he stole?

I loved Iris being annoyed that Oliver & Felicity sent them a coffeemaker—even though that wasn’t on the registry list—and Barry putting it on the return pile. (I guess Iris is over her crush on Oliver).

Both Caitlin and Barry got kidnapped by their respective nemesis and both escaped but in the end it wasn’t about them at all. All this time I thought DeVoe was going to take over Barry’s body but now I’m left with so many questions.

What was the whole purpose of kidnapping Barry if DeVoe was always going to use Dominic as host? Why was DeVoe kipping tabs on all the other bus people (including abducting the Weeper) if they weren’t good enough? Didn’t his superior intelligence tell him they sucked? And why bother with Barry at all? If The Flash never knew you existed you could get yourself a new body and disappear. Why fuck with his life in the first place?

Also all of this could’ve been avoided if they didn’t keep leaving Amunet to roam wide and commit more crimes. They could’ve get her arrested few weeks back and then try to take her out again today but no - they just let her leave every time. And then they left Dominic alone when they knew she is out there and want him. And right after he had supposedly dangerous surgery. And now the poor guy had his body stolen.

PS - I pretty sure Wally’s actor is filming something right now - Ascendant probably

Floatation mode was featured before when Barry’s suit was hacked into and he was stuck in it. Barry complained about it a lot but look - useful.

Part of the problem with having a “super genius” who is supposedly dozens - nay, hundreds - of steps ahead of everyone else is the character is still being written by normal people. We’re just supposed to accept that his plan is a super genius plan and we don’t get it because we’re not super geniuses.

I think that the Thinker is doing some of this out of hubris, just to show how smart he is. That’s part of his character in the comics. “Why did I do X-A-B-Z when I could have just X-Z? To prove how I’m always one step ahead of everybody!” They need to play that up more, though.

He’s the Flash. Couldn’t he have just cleaned up the crime scene and disposed of the body before the police broke in. Last week he went to Star City and back in the blink of an eye. Its a frame up so I don’t think there is any moral issue about that.

No, for the same reason that he didn’t murder Reverse Flash with his vibrating hand in the 4th episode of the crossover last week. Barry does things the right way, that is who he is. Which I think both infuriated Reverse Flash & delighted him, because being from the future he knew how much trouble that was going to cause for Barry in this storyline.

As fast as Flash is, I doubt he had time to go and get the right chemicals to wash the blood out. Even if he shampooed the carpet, there would still be blood traces left behind for CCPD’s forensics team to find. Given Barry was just issued a restraining order against DeVoe and that his wife would certainly report him missing if Barry went unarrested, it wouldn’t take much to link the two together and I’m sure the wife has a blood sample for the police to compare against.

I still can get over how DeVoe Get Out’ed Dominic. Though, it was a decent enough swerve from the idea that DeVoe wanted to take over Barry’s body because the Speedforce could contain his might brain.

The highlight of the episode though was Katee Sackhoff strolling into Jitters wearing that Santa hat.

Dang it, my comment was going to be “Don’t Run, Get Out” because yeah, that came to mind as soon as we discovered what happened.

      Avoid flash (ha!) photography, DeVoe.

was the idea just that a telepathy made consciousness transferal possible where it wouldn’t otherwise be? Not sure if his new host is going to also be consumed or something about telepathy lets him offload.

Am I the only one who found Amunet to be increasingly grating as the episode went on? It was a bit painful whenever she was on-screen.

I am enjoying Katee Sackhoff as Amunet more and more as she gets more of a chance to establish the rhythm of the character. Also I take her backstory in this as confirmation that she is a lifelong, hardscrabble Central City resident and the accent is a deliberate attempt at inventing a theatrical character, that her character is playing at being.

Katee Sackhoff in a tvline interview today said that she conceived the accent as a crazy person listening to the voices in her head and it coming out even crazier as she imperfectly mimicked it & having no bearing on any real-world dialect. As such I think it works beautifully.

Very glad that Gypsy did not send Cisco a breakup cube. At this point they might be the most purely enjoyable couple in the ArrowVerse.

Kara’s sadness about Mon-El cheating on her with all you can eat ribs with Saturn Girl this week might have ruined that for a little while at least, sadly.

This episode was just okay, but a couple things I liked a lot:

    - Amunet being the one who actually gets through and boosts Caitlin’s self-esteem. Just unexpected and interesting. I kind of wish they’d base this season around Amunet instead of the Thinker.

    - That jab at Felicity was so great. Iris saying “I’m not bitter” is maybe the hardest I’ve laughed at anything Iris has said.

    - Iris making the right choice to try to save Caitlin instead of Barry. I’ve had problems with Iris since the beginning of the show, and slowly but surely she’s become an enjoyable character, IMO. Even if I’m still unreasonably pissed that Patty left so early.

The problem with centering anything around Amunet is she has incredibly shitty powers. Like the way they’ve set it up she seems unable to use her powers on anything but that specific set of metal she wears as a glove. I mean in her first appearance she was defeated by a fucking magnet.

At least she doesn’t carry her metal stuff in a stupid bucket anymore
