    And all that’s not counting the intermittent appearance of what can only be described as “Muslim ninjas,” who pop up to cause mayhem with some acrobatic knife-throwing and chain-fighting.

    To be fair, there were Muslim ninjas in the form of the the Assassins, which were what the Assassins from Assassins’ Creed are based on. Thought they were wiped out by the Mongol Empire in the 13th Century.

    The Knights Templar of Knightfall are engaged in a search for the Holy Grail (which they lost while being driven out of the Holy Land some 15 years before the main action of the series)

    Actually, the Knight’s Templar were basically glorified bankers that provided letters of credit to Pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem. They were wiped out in the 14th Century when the King of France had them burned at the stake on false charges because he couldn’t pay off his debts to them.

    I was hoping for an entertaining show, but I’m not wholly surprised that it wound up a bit disappointing. There’s only so many different ways you can portray this era in history before you wind up with a show that somehow lost its point before it even began.

    I’ll keep it set on the DVR for now though, just in case I enjoy it or it finds its footing a few episodes in.
