It looks like somebody in the SNL Writer’s Room has been watching Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

I came here to say the EXACT same thing!

And to re-voice my disappointment that 3 cast-members from this got noms for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy and yet NOTHING for Donna Lynne Champlin!

Oh how that show has suffered!

Except this song, while great, doesn’t hold a candle to “Let’s Generalize About Men”:

    Sigh...

Another other perfectly good article that now throws me into a pedantic rage...

Are you sure that was Joan of Arc that Villaseñor was portraying being burned at the stake? Because her costume suggested early American puritan — which itself gets me in the “oh, get it right, please” zone because those women were hanged, not burned (which Miss d’Arc actually was).

Some women accused of being witches, were burned at the stake in various European nations. Regardless, the vague historical reference, which is not overtly accurate, is highly problematic indeed, old sport. Quite, quite.

I assumed that Villasenor was portraying a woman being burned at the stake during the Salem Witch Trials since all her other examples were of women throughout American History

The one thing this isn’t is funny because it rings too true.

It’d be like if 9 years ago SNL made a catchy pop song singing “welcome to never, ever feeling confident about the US economy ever again”

Just like then, the world is changing forever and it’s all too serious for me to see much humor in it.

Pro-tip: Don’t throw a punch like Wolverine with your keys between your fingers. Good way to risk injuring your own hand.

Exactly. Save the Wolverine punching for when you have one of those T-shaped corkscrews on you.

You can always flame the stupid white guy up there who wants to talk about how black men rape a lot or something.

Talk about counterintuitive: a girl-power anthem denouncing the patriarchy with women who look like they’ve been modeled on a heterosexual male fantasy. It could be ironic or a bit of détournement, but, it’s not. What’s the joke here exactly? Maybe I don’t get it because I don’t know what they’re parodying. In any case, it fails.

Did the video address how “dick in a box” is not actually a good idea?

I admit it, this is becoming so frequent I don’t click on the headlines anymore. It’s like: Hm, another prominent man goes down due sexual allegations. Oh, and it’s going to snow tomorrow!
