Next year when this starts fucking people over does Trump lose some of his base? Optimistic me wants to say yes, but optimistic me hasn’t been right about a lot.

Absolutely not. For one it will take longer than a year for it to kill the. Most likely. Just like with Bush running the country the economy will tank just before a Dem gets in office and they’ll have to clean up the mess.

But more importantly Trump’s base will NEVER blame him for anything. When proof is comes out that he colluded with Russia his base will go “But Hillary...” He could piss on their faces and they’d blame liberals.

It is important to remember that this didn’t just pass.

It passed the same day the WH went silent in response to major developments that indicates the POTUS’s closest advisers and staff are major targets of a criminal investigation, if not POTUS himself.

    Yet.They.Persisted.

Without any debate or even a veneer of democracy.

/especially if Sen. McCatskille (that can’t possibly be correct) is accurate.

Democratic Senators are posting screenshots of the bill with handwriting in the margins, pages crossed out or with a line through them, and notes scribbled all over the bill they voted into law. How the fuck are you going to have a law that nobody read? How is a judge going to rule “they might not have meant that, because some staffer made a big X across that page.”

Republicans didn’t read the Affordable Care Act and then bitched about being bamboozled by it, now they’re writing bills on the fly and voting for them sight unseen because “we made up stories about how you guys did it, so we’re going to do it too!”

They are banking on cleaning it up during reconciliation. The final version will be “correct”.

Unless some folks from rural states deafen the two or three Senators who could conceivably flip in the upcoming days, that should pass.

/though honestly, I don’t believe there are any GOP senators who fail to understand what is at stake here

Sharing my comment from the Splinter article explaining what might happen to the bill next, points of contention between the House and Senate versions, and resources on who specifically to put pressure on.

All I have to say is RIP America. This shit is going to cause a brain drain as all our best and brightest are going to find ways to flee to better pastures. As corporate interests drain the last bit of resources from exploited areas, they’ll move on and leave citites looking like Flint everywhere. Meanwhile, other countries will be happy to scoop up our talented people and incorporate them into their societies.

I’m just wondering what is going to happen geopolitically once the fractured USA is no longer a military threat to everyone.

And yet Democrats won’t pounce on this and voters will still have memory loss come next year.

None of this matters though because North Korea is going to blow us all to hell before Black Panther comes out, so really, this is just sprinkles on top of a shit sundae.

You all keep fooling yourselves into believing this is politics. This is much more, and the coming deaths will verify that. America is about to transition into a very violent era.

As someone else phrased it, Trump is dangerously low on plausible options to fend of the indictments coming for his family.

His best option is to fire Mueller, issue blanket pardons and hope that the Republicans just go-along with it all (which they likely would because they need his signature for the Donor Relief Act).

While that is a horrible idea, it “solves” the immediate problem and that is exactly how our Rotten Tangerine “thinks”.

This country is literally destroying itself because a bunch of racists are angry that a black man had a successful presidency. I know people say not to be numb anymore, but at this point I just don’t give a shit. The Democrats won’t do anything, and the Republicans are basically given carte blanche by their base to strangle the country and fuck them over, just so long as people of color get it worse.

Oh well. I guess it’s time to look for an additional job and start figuring out how much more it’s going to cost me to have healthcare that probably won’t work. Thanks, America. Sorry that black people were just so damn black that you had to burn it all to the ground.

«Democratic leader Sen. Chuck Schumer wanted to postpone the vote so that there could be more time to look the bill over, but was voted down.»

Weren’t the ones who voted him down the same chuckleheads that told all the people who were losing their homes to foreclosures, after the 2007 economic meltdown, when their AMR interest rates shot through the roof, that they should have read the contracts? So when our economy tanks and we will ask them if they read the contract, what will be their excuse?

Must be nice to write checks with other people’s money and never be held financially accountable for your gross abuse of power

We are witnessing the same thing that happened with Bush and Clinton. Clinton handed off a strong economy to Bush so of course the greedy republicans made huge tax cuts even while fighting two wars! This will blow up in their faces too but they know their base won’t hold them accountable in the long run! It will be Obama’s fault somehow.

I love that they get to say that a fucking scholarship is a source of income, so it must be taxed, yet it was imperative that private owners of airplanes don’t have to get taxed at all. Where the fuck is that fucking logic and I want to know which mother fucker put that provision in there.

so much for protecting real Americans from those coastal elites.
