Yep. Follows the whole “I can’t be gay, I’ve been to Hooters” line of logic.

It’s nore like if your neighbor went to Hooters.

This old bitch had no say where they held that wedding. Probably held it as far from her as they could.

Goddamn, this post was like a prime Tyson fight of racist comments from this chick. There’s just... so much to unpack.

Of Muslims, Judy often wonders why they come to America if they hate “hate pork, beer, bikinis, Jesus and freedom of speech.”

I mean, so do Hasidic Jews (Side-note: I’m Jewish), but I’m willing to bet Judy is cool with them?

“White Irish slaves were treated worse than any other race in the U.S.”

Well, they didn’t exist, so there’s that. There were no “white Irish slaves”. Also, prejudice against Irish was at a time when the Irish weren’t considered white! Because whiteness is a static concept!

[Judy] insists she can’t be racist because her son had a wedding in China

... I’m going to assume her son married someone who is Chinese. Otherwise, by her logic slave owners weren’t racist because they had black people at their weddings (you know, as slaves). As an aside, why is it that racists seem to be cool with Asians?

On a Facebook post about renaming institutions, Reyer said it was a “push to erase most of the history of our country.

This is a story I like to tell because let’s talk about really erasing history:

I went to a middle school named for Harry F. Byrd, the architect of massive resistance to integration. When I was in 8th grade our masoct was changed from “the Senators” (basically, Col. Reb from Ole’ Miss in grayscale) to an Eagle. No one told me why. No one told me who my school was named for.

One very hungover morning in 2005 I went to a history recitation where we learned about the 1960 election. I saw “Byrd” and saw the name and asked the TA why he’d had votes cast for him. That’s when someone explained who Harry F. Byrd was.

They finally renamed the school last year, at which point I found out that the elementary school next door had actually been the black middle school during segregation. And that my middle school had been named two years after the city of Richmond desegregated. And that Byrd’s son came and said his father wouldn’t have wanted an integrated school named for him and praised segregation (causing the speech to be interrupted six times by standing ovations).

Not learning that? That is erasing history.

My opinion here: Racist white people like Asians because their devotion to the idea of standardized testing as the unimpeachable benchmark of intelligence and human worth has forced them to acknowledge that Asians have more intelligence than white people - they’re literally willing to diminish white status if it means they can denigrate Blacks and Latinx people. And in their zeal to paint the global south as fundamentally corrupt and violent - because none of those issues had to do with resource exploitation, global slave trading, or colonialism - they’ve been forced to reckon with the fact that many Asian countries are orderly, wealthy, and have low crime rates. Basically, they’re so bent on proving that Black and Brown people are intrinsically inferior, and the data they use is so basic and uncontextualized, that they’re forced by their own shallow understanding of the world to place Asians above themselves. It’s also a convenient way to show that you’re “not racist.”

This is in line with the new, trendy nomenclature that these guys use, which is to term themselves “race realists” instead of racist or white supremacist.

Add to this the fact that there’s a long history in this country of painting Asians as the model minority and using that as an indictment of African American culture and as a proof that American society is not fundamentally racist. So a lot of racist white people have grown up being fed this narrative through media and popular culture.

maybe if she has a Chinese daughter-in-law, who would create a half-Chinese grandchild, it might foster a tiny bit of empathy for other (non-white) people?

      (reads her other comments)

Maybe there is some hope for her son?

“Be a frothing white supremacist, there’s a future in it...”

Sometimes... I just can’t. It’s like shock and awe. People are so horrible all the time and the only reason I can’t deal with it is myself. The last vestiges of my Christian upbringing haunt me because in the most remote corners of my heart, I want to believe that injustice will eventually be defeated and the bad guys will eventually see comeuppance. This is just another case study for the argument that the world is random when it’s not being terrible, and the best we can do is try our best until we collapse and turn back into dust.

I guess it’s an impossible dream to want to be regarded as a human.

This is one of the reasons I could never vibe with organized religions. Because it would mean that god is a White supremacist or is totally cool with White supremacy. Think of how many pure fucking evil racists lived long happy lives in wealth and luxury while Black and Brown people were beaten, raped, murdered and enslaved.

You know though, this isn’t the end of history and maybe 100 or 200 years from now black and brown people will be on top.

This is who the republican party is. Period. People have tried to argue with me about that, but all of the “put the white back in White House” and “he is going to grow watermelons on the back lawn” shit that I saw with my own eyes when Obama was in office sealed it for me.

Was not surprised. Waaaaayyyy out in the boonies, in an area most famous for their melons (The local high school are the Rocky Ford Meloneers)

I’m not sure why this is news. She could easily be already in any state legislature from Kansas to Florida.

The only thing unusual is that she hasn’t said anything homo or transphobic. (She probably did. I just didn’t bother to look into it.)
