Our being marginalized in one aspect does not mean that we do not hold power over others in another aspect.

Inb4 those deadly-earnest burnergreys come up in here with their “See!?!? Black people can be racist too!” circlejerk.

In all seriousness, though: good article.

IKR? Her Tweets, especially when she gets on a roll, are pretty good, too.

I’m going to jump back up and finish reading, but..

“...As sleeper agents for white supremacy, white women...” was phenomenal, and I’ll be using it from now on.

Can we stop pretending that queer antagonism in the black community is white racist myth? The black community stateside and elsewhere is socially conservative. Our social conservative plays a role in our sense of moral superiority over white folks who do the things we consider as a group deviant.

Code switching is how most of us survive our black communities. When I’m around my own I am always on alert based on my orientation. When I’m outside the community I have to concern myself with my blackness being an inherent threat to outsiders.

On trans inclusion (They should stick together a third gender alliance). Their issues will never be cis issues. I can’t imagine a trans man feeling safe around cis men knowing they have lesser the upper body strength of a cis man and a vagina for easy access during a violation.

And the women of the Housewives franchise have no reason to change their behavior because people want to see a spectacle between women. You want them to throw dirty on each other verbally. How are they suppose to do this without stepping on toes?

Yes. Yes. And yes. Black people are by far, in my experience, the most vocal antigay crowd. It’s not because of white Supremacy unless you think the Bible is the white supremacists handbook (I don’t accept arguments that say it is). We are indeed social conservatives. Also, there is no need to overanalyze anything said on RHOA

I don’t know that thy’re any worse than black men but I’ve definitely seen homophobia/transphobia from black women. There was a commenter on SNS on Jez who was saying how interested she was in this guy and how she had wanted to be part of a threesome with him and another guy, but didn’t want to when she found out he was bi.

Which I find kinda weird. Why would you want a threesome but be weirded out by participating with a person who’d be interested in both people in the threesome?

To be fair, there’s a decent chance that person was a troll.

We wouldn’t even be having this discussion had the universe shut Kenya Moore down after movie Trois came out.

Who is watching The Real Housewives Of Atlanta, after all of these years? Come on in and tell me some lies.

Black people and black queer folk have a tense relationship. Fixed it for you. Let’s be honest the black community doesn’t do well with our relationship with gay people. We talk about toxic masculinity and if we’re honest black men are the worst about it in regards to gay men. We, myself included, are guilty of tossing around the word faggot way too casually. This is one of those love the sinner hate the sin type deals with us as a community and we need ro rectify it soon

Love this post but have to disagree with you on the “white supremacist lie” of black vs white homophobia. Mainstream Black culture is more far open in its hesitance and hostility toward the LGBT community. White mainstream culture -to the extent that one exists - is more surreptitious. White mainstream culture is presented like Modern Family when it’s really more like the Duggars. 2016 should have taught us that white people were hiding their bigotry better than we thought. Basically what im saying is that it’s useless to compare the levels of homophobia because they’re presented so differently.
