Seriously? Probation for a gang rape that these dummies filmed themselves committing?

Prosecutors are being way too lenient here, even taking into account the perpetrators’ age.

This is actually an example of one of the my biggest annoyances with crime in Cook County (where Chicago is): the judges. The prosecutors wanted jail time in this case, the judge granted probation. Probably about once a month you’ll hear about somebody getting arrested for one crime, and hear they were out on probation or bail for another crime. One serious enough that I would give my radio a double-take, wondering why bail/probation was even granted.

Wow, I was going to say that the one bright spot here was that this shit was filmed; threats included, giving the victim a hopefull break from police incredulity and an answer to The Defense’s questions. Also Child Pornography sentences are usually harsher than those for sexual assault.

What the fuck is this probation? How about Juvenile Detention, Mandatory Counselling, and then probation?

Right?! Two 15 year olds who would do such a thing need more than probation. They need punishment and help.

Don’t tell me: the judge didn’t want to ruin their bright futures, right? (sarcasm)

If they had pot on them during this whole thing they’d be in jail.
