Cleveland’s Black Shield, which sounds like a new superhero who fights alongside Luke Cage but is actually a separate police union that represents the city’s black law-enforcement officers

I like this. Every U.S. city should have one of these.

In my city, it would have a membership of one. Granted, my “city” has a whopping 32,000, but still ... one.

I think many of them do. St. Louis definitely has one.

Started reading quickly, without looking at the author. Got to “Stone Cold Steve Carbohyrdate,” laughed my ass off, then scrolled back up. Yup. Mr. Harriot. You never disappoint.

Loomis, who is currently under investigation by internal affairs for wearing his uniform to a Trump rally in Akron, Ohio, plans to spend his time eating bread pudding dipped in chili covered with cheese.

Reports say the chili was purchased at Wendy’s.

    Bittersweet.

On one hand, yes that talking potato spewed some really vile things. I remember seeing him speak on Tamir Rice, and he wouldn’t ever say his name. He always called Tamir, ‘the boy’, or some other bullshit term that dehumanized him. That level of hostility and vile over the death of an innocent 12 year old showed me exactly the type of person he is.

On the other hand, the Black Shield??? I wish these cops had ousted Loomis because it was, ya know, the right thing to do. All Loomis did was give a voice to how a lot of cops feel. Getting rid of him won’t do much if they don’t try to change the underlying culture that supports guys like him, and I don’t think the “Black Shield” is about that life. “They felt we didn’t need that kind of attention and that the negative press could have been avoided.” It sounds like they were more worried about avoiding bad publicity and protecting their own.
