What the FUCK was a 17-year old and 19-year old going to do with a fucking EIGHT YEAR OLD’S sneakers? Even fucking selling them, how much could they fucking make? Absolutely heartbreaking. That poor dad, that poor child, that poor family. I hate to see someone’s life get thrown away at 17, but at 17, you also fucking KNOW BETTER and need to be charged as an adult for murdering someone over AN EIGHT YEAR OLD’S FUCKING SNEAKERS.

I don’t believe it was for them to wear. He had nice stuff. People feel threatened when you have nice things. So there will always be someone who is jealous and will wreck your whole family just to say you have a nice pair of shoes you can’t even wear. “Look what I got.” mentality.

I agree with just about everything you’ve said but he needs to be charged as a 17 year old who committed a crime not as an adult. For all we know they could have grappled with the knife and the dad got fatally stabbed. You’re assuming the teenager just shanked him mercilessly, but the article didn’t reveal all that.

Oh god. This poor family. Losing their Dad and son and partner right before the holidays. Not that this would be ok in July. The heart aches for them.

I am so angry & sad about this. So sad that this man lost his life over BULLSH!T—and so angry at more black youths engaging in BULLSH!T for material gain. Get a gottdamn job-or TWO like the rest of us non-Kennedys, non-Rockefellers and you can buy whatever you want. Now if the victim had been armed & stabbed or shot his attacker, HIS family & friends would have been in an uproar. These are the very stories that racists exaggerate and use as a basis for their hateful pov. WE have to do better.

If this provokes a strong reaction like anger and sadness, then are you delving deeper into the story and finding out more facts? Will you search for the case as it goes through the court system to find out if this article matches the sworn testimony and evidence? Or will debating each other here suffice, like the echo chamber of twitter? Because the second articles already published change the story significantly. One family is permanently shattered, but the factual circumstances may allow for two families to not get a life without parole or a death sentence.

I think what I’m asking is that you do better than the bigots who merrily abuse the emotions and attention span of their followers and readers. A simple search of the local news (not the copy and paste wire news) has interviews and details which matter.

RIP Jose Malave. You went farther than anyone should be asked to go.

My mother calls this “pack mentality.” She believes that you allow kids to roam in packs you are letting them become criminals. That age they need to be working or in extracurricular activities. Raise children, not wolves.

i believe her. there was an article by a pack of teen male elephants without male adult supervision who created havoc by killing rhinos just for the hell of it. it’s something about that age in any male of any species that seems to transmit stupidity among the pack.

Later that night the group showed up at Malave’s Palisade Avenue home in Jersey City, thinking that the boy might have other nice things

That’s some Viking raid shit. Everybody that went over there should be tried as adults and charged with Murder One
