Seems I recall something called Benghazi getting voted on, 2,498,393, 3093, 303 times, so.... bring it up now. Tomorrow. And every day, week, month, until they both die.

And Trump can be shook. I say we shake his wig off.

Yes. This damned Benghazi Fever is insane. There was a scene on the Amazon political comedy Alpha House where a Republican member of Congress proposed a permanent subcommittee for investigating Benghazi. Somehow that doesn’t seem too far from reality. I’ll confess, I’m shocked that anyone introduced articles of impeachment. It won’t go anywhere, and I’ve seen both Pelosi and Schumer show extreme disinterest in impeachment. I agree that Pence would be a horrible, dangerous President. Many of us would suffer under his regime, which would be immeasurably more effective in realizing it’s legislative agenda, BUT he probably wouldn’t be pushing us closer and closer to the point of no return with each passing day. He probably won’t get us in a war with NK, China, Iran and Pakistan all at the same time, and many of the horrors we’d have to endure during his Presidency could be reversed when he is gone. It’s a terrible choice, but I think our chances of survival are better under Pence.

It is critically important that simultaneously:

    • we citizens push for impeachment
    • Democrats in Congress resist in the short term.

    Why?

We need to put the pressure on the government to investigate this Administration. We need to get the facts. We need to get to the truth.

We cannot start impeachment proceedings prematurely. We need to have the facts documented to such an overwhelming degree that impeachment becomes necessary. We can’t let a premature impeachment push fizzle.

If the facts lead in such a direction, it would be great if VP Pence could be impeached and removed as well as the orange santorum-covered abomination.

Disagree. Just because you’re not ready to build the house, doesn’t mean you can start drawing up designs.

But you just made the case against your own point.

Sure, draw up the plans. But don’t start building until the plans are complete. Build a good, sturdy foundation before putting up the walls. Etc.

You’re giving Pence to much and to little credit, imo. But he can also go to Leavenworth with Trump, I’ll allow it.

I’m tired of the doom and gloom “Pence is worse” rhetoric. Yeah, he’s a terrible fucking person, but you know what? He’s gonna play by the book because he is a politician. The differences between the two are clear as day. Trump is Chaotic Evil. Pence is Lawful Evil. Trump will do shit because some bumfuck white supremacist suggested it or someone on Fox news brought it up. Pence has a clear and concise plan of what he wants to do, so there are no surprises, and they can all be countered legally. And most of all, I don’t ever have to worry about Pence sparking World War III in 240 characters or less.

You are 100% RIGHT. I knew when Trump got elected if he fucked up (sure he will) and gets impeached, Pence will take his seat. A man who tried to arrest gays for applying for marriage licenses. Trump is a horrible person, Pence is just evil down to his rotten soul.

This will be a test of who the heroes will end up being when the shit hits the fan. I don’t care how likely or unlikely starting the process is; the good and decent people in the Congress need to go on record for when the history books are written about this crook, this thief, this scoundrel.

These will be remembered as the heroes among heroes.

More than that, there is more than enough evidence to begin impeachment hearings to investigate the president of wrong-doing. Not only is this not premature, it’s long overdue. Had any president, Democrat or Republican, done a tenth of what Trump is accused to have done, we’d be marching them out of the White House. So this is the literal least of what we should be doing.

I don’t have anything useful to add to the discussion at hand, but I noticed before I took a break from Kinja a few weeks ago that there were a bunch of dubious accounts responding to my posts using poor English and shallow rhetoric to strongly condemn white people, some even calling for “rising up against” and/or killing them (in addition to the usual, idiotic racist ones). Is that still happening? I’ve been reading into the extent of Russian trolling and influence on US social media, and wanted to share:

    https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/russias-election-meddling-is-another-american-intelligence-failure/amp

    https://www.buzzfeed.com/rosalindadams/these-americans-were-tricked-into-working-for-russia-they?utm_term=.cxz1v41Qy#.raVWrkWbE

Keep an eye on these trolls, y’all. And sorry for the redundancy if this has already been addressed here.

    Resuming my break now.

Pence won’t bumble us into a war, demean the Office and our culture with crass narcissism, or ever get elected in his own right. He is vile, but infinitely preferable to Trump.

Bring on Pence; we’ll burn that bridge when we get there. We have to get 45 out before he starts a goddamn NUCLEAR WAR with his verbal diarrhea on Twitter!
