    I kinda want someone to be driven to jail from the shelter and while the sheriff is on his way back to the shelter his car gets washed away. Anyway, questions:

    • How does this sheriff plans on matching names to warrants without the help of a computer? Is there just going to be binder with every outstanding warrant and as someone comes in for shelter they look up the name like it’s a guest list?
    • When they bring in a 75 year old woman without ID, are you gonna deny her entry because she can’t prove she isn’t a felon? If that scenario sounds ridiculous and the answer is ‘of course not’, then why would anyone with a warrant bring an ID with them?
    • Who’s going to pay the enormous lawsuit when someone who’s turned away from a public shelter is killed or injured? Nevermind...we know who, anyone but the police who caused it.

      Of course, in practice this would be a complete clusterfuck, which is why they’re probably not going to do anything of the sort. This was likely the deputy in charge of the Twitter feed getting a Trumpian hard-on after watching Sessions revoke DACA.

      During Harvey ICE stated that they would not stop enforcement during evacuations. The last time a hurricane hit Texas, under Obama, they announced they would cease enforcement for the duration of the evacuation.

      Long way to walk to say; yes, they will definitely be doing immigration checks.

    Confused. So if you’re a registered offender, you’re not allowed within 1000' of a storm shelter that might have minors?

    Or is it, if there’s an outstanding warrant for your arrest (like 5,000 parking tickets) they’ll lock up?

      Both it seems. In one tweet they warned that sex offenders would be turned away. In the other tweet they warned people with warrants that they would be arrested and taken to jail.
