Their moms made them. Yes, even little Josh off to the right there.

It’s Creston. Their moms probably took the picture and might have even shared their meth out of pride for what their little boys did.

You might be right tho, oddly enough.

It’s not the fact that the kids did the racist s**t; kids do stupid s**t, and sometimes, it’s racist, or sexist, or homophobic etc.

It’s the fact that these kids felt comfortable enough with the racist s**t they did to post it on social media.

That makes me think that, at some level, someone in their homes condoned this racist s**t.

Having lived in eye-oh-wah for a bit in the 90's, this scene, that school, those students, the cops, the town and all the reactions.. typical.

i went to high school in iowa, and yep. this is not at all surprising. i spent most of my childhood in the mountains and hollers of rural maryland, where i often saw bumper stickers that said “don’t blame me, i voted for jeff davis,” but iowa wasn’t much better. maybe worse?

at least when there was a klan rally in my maryland town in 1994, the peace rally across the street was 10 times larger, and all the area faith groups (except the pentecostals...) were involved. i went to a very progressive lutheran church, and at sunday school several weeks following the rally, we discussed the passages of the bible often used to promote bigotry, and put them in historical context. and then discussed why using the bible to support bigotry and hatred was morally repugnant in general, but specifically when trying to follow the basic tenets of christ’s teachings. our hippie pastor was pretty rad and did good work in that place.

then we moved to iowa and the churches we tried were unfriendly to outsiders and just had fundraisers for making the churches bigger and fancier and the sermons talked about supporting the football teams and rooting out sin. my family stopped going to church in iowa.

Yup. First real live Confederate flag I ever saw was flying high in Boone, IA.

      I am not surprised.

“That’ll show them! Two weeks off of school will surely teach them a lesson!”

I’m not familiar with the whole process of school suspension. But is there anything else the school could have done in the form of punishment?

More importantly, why are you only the JUNIOR Varsity squad? Was your racist game just not strong enough to make Varsity but you’re practicing your noose-tying and spray painting this season in hopes you’ll get called up to the big leagues?

EDIT: Didn’t realize that part wasn’t real, at least from what I’ve read. In other news, they’ve all been kicked off the football team which is probably one of the harshest punishments they would care about.

Hoods and tshirts? These cow fuckers can’t even afford sheets? It would be funny if I wasn’t so sick and tired of seeing white America claim its not racist while they ignore shit like this.

Oh, I’ll bet that these were presented to these young men on the occasion of their eighth birthdays, as their grandpappies handed them to their pappies, and as one day, once their most attractive cousins come of age, they will hand down to their small-eyed-wide-faced progeny.

“The town of almost 8,000 is only 1 percent black.”

Sounds a lot like Winston County, Alabama, the whitest county in the state. According to Wikipedia:

As of the census[12] of 2010, there were 24,484 people, 10,163 households, and 7,074 families residing in the county. The population density was 40 people per square mile (15/km2). There were 13,469 housing units at an average density of 22 per square mile (8.5/km2). The racial makeup of the county was 95.6% White, 0.5% Black or African American, 0.7% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.5% from other races, and 1.4% from two or more races. Nearly 2.6% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Back in 1998, the total black population in Winston was 22. 22! I think most of them moved out of the county since then.
