    I sure hope it spread i work at a charter school that moved to its own campus and the kids lost free lunch and breakfast, on top of that the kids now have to pay if they want lunch or bring their own. ive started keeping snacks in my room to give them something if they have no lunch

      Yeah, my mom worked at a title 1 school for years and even with the free food for many a lot of kids missed out (especially if their folks couldn’t get them there early enough for breakfast for any reason) so she kept a ton of snacks on hand.

    I think that if our society isn’t ash or small pockets of warring tribal city states in 100 years, we’ll look back on what we allowed to happen in terms of hunger, homelessness, and hopelessness with the same horror as any other barbarism we think ourselves above.

    We could end these problems fairly easily. We just don’t give enough of a shit.

      The problem with American exceptionalism is we don’t realize when every other Western Nation gets there 40 years earlier because we pretend like everyone is less evolved than us.
