If someone supports Voter ID laws but refuses to provide said ID required for free it’s pretty much a guarantee they want to stop certain groups from voting.

No doubt though Rep. voters who swallowed the “millions of illegal votes” bull will swallow this shite as well.

They really messed up by not stopping Trump and know it’ll come back to bite them, so why not eliminate the democrat’s base. Gerrymander certain districts (check), appoint a conservative supreme court judge (check), change voter ID laws (check), get rid of the dreamers (in the works), and more to come. We are going to be screwed loooonnng after 45 steps down. Imagine what they’ll be able to accomplish once Pence takes over.

If a Republican government closes DMVs in all the areas where non-white people live, as happened in Alabama in conjunction with their Voter ID law, that also might be a clue that this is not really about fighting voter fraud.

I truly believe that an integral part of any and all get out and vote efforts should include: 1) getting people registered early 2) assisting the poor and/or elderly with obtaining state IDs (driving folks to the DMV, helping people get copies of their birth certificates (for those really shitty voter ID law states), etc.) 3) getting people to the polls for every election, not just the presidential ones and 4) monitoring voter rolls for suspect purging. In 2012 I went to vote and found out that I’d been purged b/c I didn’t vote frequently or some nonsense. I’d voted in 2008 and hadn’t moved, so I learned how important it was to make sure that you vote in every election whether you think it’s important or not. Change starts locally.

I’ve asked this before but does anyone have any suggestions for non-profits that do this type of work? I’d gladly volunteer or donate.

I don’t know about the US but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s similar to the UK where “Get Out the Vote” drives are largely left to the major parties and pressure groups/trade unions/lobbyists rather than an actual completely separate organisation. Though here at least the electoral commission still does a nationwide drive as well but these are only in the last 3-4 months before the registration deadline for each major vote (which I doubt your current Adm would support similar measures to).

In the US I think you have Rock The Vote and a couple of others but they’re still focused on certain groups they want to target as opposed to true non-partisan organisations.

Things will only get worse at this rate, if we don’t do anything.
