I’m pulling for Venus because this is quite an accomplishment at 37 and after dealing with serious health issues earlier in her career. Plus she favors my grandmother.

But I won’t be mad at all is Sloane wins. Coming back after a year off and playing like this is phenomenal. Best of luck to both women.

I honestly can’t believe Venus is not only still competing, but competing at such a high level — not because of her age, but because Sjogren’s isn’t something that goes away, and it causes severe fatigue which she has struggled with for many years...

So I REALLY want Venus to win this whole thing not only for herself, her sister and her new niece, but for all people living with invisible disabilities!

      Go Venus!!

Reminds me of when Serena and Venus caught a TONNNNN of shit for dancing the Crip Walk when celebrating.

Not only are these ladies talented and accomplished, but they’re also gorgeous.

I write this not because I wish to objectify them, but to counteract all the hate written so often about the Williams sisters and people like them, especially about their appearance.

Well that, and sometimes beauty and hard work wins what rationality and fairness can not. Take your victories where you can.

Here, have a picture of Edna Lewis, a beautiful woman who showed NYC what Southern cooking was about.

    We will definitely be watching.

I’ll be “watching” meaning I’ll follow online until the last few games and then watch the replay because I’ll be too much of a wreck to watch live.

Great match from both of them yesterday against quality players. It was a real treat.

Send me pictures even if you get bad ones. I need to safely live vicariously through you. I came up last week for my usual drive by. The Wednesday schedule was insane after Tuesday’s rain. I really lucked out on that one.

I like Sloane Stephens. I don’t like that the tennis world is trying to crown her as a successor to Venus or Serena. Let Sloane be Sloane.

I’m a fan of the Venus and Serena because no matter what people say about them, they go out on that court and DO WORK! I see you Ms. Sloane and I am here for it! I don’t watch tennis regularly but I want to see this match because it will be epic. EPIC!

    It’ll be a good match.

    Youth vs crafty/experience.

I think Stephens takes this in straight sets.

    And Venus looks gorgeous.

She hasn’t played her QF match yet. If she wins, it will be 3.
