Honolulu Slim has a lot of faith in this country despite his treatment during his presidency.

Unfortunately, collectively this country is morally corrupt. The GOP consists of misfits united by their disdain for the rest of humanity, not because they feel their party would bring about revolutionary change that’ll better their lives. Those ‘basket of deplorables’ have to know by now their situation is won’t be any better tomorrow than the day they voted 45 in. They want us to be just if not more miserable then their irredeemable lives.

This is a lovely thought in theory, but you’re underestimating just how racist this country can be, especially at this point lol

Same. Watching his old racist head explode would be epic.

He BARELY held it together running against a woman last time around. He was constantly right on the edge of saying something dumb and heinous. Make him run against a smart, likable, accomplished woman who also happens to be black? One can only imagine the possibilities.

President Obama was the first politician my mom loved since JFK. It was really rough for her that he was leaving and made worse by the fact that Trump is the dirt fucking worst.

“My hope is that somehow, someway, Barack Obama can get a fake mustache and a long goatee and run in the 202o election as “Flarack Flobama,” a distant relative of Barack and restore order to this broken nation.”

I’d settle for a Michelle Obama run, with Barack running a shadow campaign. Two campaign events daily. Every state gets multiple visits, with some bonus appearances by lovable Uncle Joe tossed in for good measure.

Blanket the country with Dems people actually like, selling the “good old days” of four years ago. Drive up that turnout to record levels.

This is what blows my fucking mind: we’re being held hostage by the GOP base. Democrats don’t want DACA ended, establishment Republicans don’t want it ended. It’s literally just the Trump wing of the GOP. It’s infuriating that the Democrats aren’t better at saying, “we’re in the mess we’re in because of the GOP. Stop voting for them.”

We almost had comprehensive immigration reform until Breitbart (under Bannon) rallied the crazies. We don’t have an improved ACA because the GOP will only vote to repeal and replace.

This. The country is being held hostage by far-right assholes, and the Republicans are too pussy to do anything about it because that’s half their own base. Without these Nazi assholes, Republicans never win another Presidency and never hold another Congressional majority in this country.

This is 100% on the GOP, too. Do you think that McConnell or Paul Ryan agrees with those yahoos? Of course not! But they wanted to ride the populist wave to a majority. They’re Dr. Frankenstein and the Trump wing of the GOP is their monster.

Not that the populists (who, let’s face it, were petty racist) didn’t exist before. But the Tea Party empowered them.

I like the “basic decency” part. He basically says Trump lacks it, which we all know is completely true, but he says it in the most Obama way possible, because he is a better man than all of us.

And then, at some point, you realize he does this so well because he has most likely spent a lifetime being better, more patient, more forgiving, more understanding than all of us. And that, in many ways, that essential part of his character is a key component of his success in life and his journey through so many historical firsts. I think we’ll realize more and more over time just how extraordinary he had to be...and how much we took that for granted.

Trumpolini has destroyed any slim hope of his ever being presidential against all tradition and respect for his office. He is an existential threat to this nation and the world. All former Presidents need to break with their tradition and come out forcefully against this lunatic and his terrible policies. Thanks Obama!

I would like to see the other Presidents do more. I literally just had a rantlet at yet another “Michelle should run!” white dude upthread.

She she’s been saying she wouldn’t run since he left office. Has their family not given enough to fix problems white people created for themselves as well as for the rest of us?

They need to do more to figure out how to fix the mess they made this tome, instead of handing it off to POC to clean up. AGAIN.

He should have said nothing.... He gives them talking points to deflect from their morally bankrupt decisions. Do not give them cover. The people spoke on Nov. 8 all too loudly. Let them eat cake.

You, President O, I love you man, but go somewhere are sit down, and pass the popcorn to Michelle.

TV talking heads (the usual right-fart wingers) go on about how this was an unconstitutional order. Executive orders are a president’s prerogative. Bush II did 262, some outright allowing discrimination by religious groups, and keeping presidential records secret. And seeing how Trump is a Messy Marvin, he’s going to use it too. If I were Obama I would have used it too. He had to fight so many basic battles with Congress his first few years, that he probably was like “I’m not feeling this fight, so deal with it.”

Will this decision now turn into hyperdrive of expulsion. I realize that Congress has to weigh in, but we know how long Americans patience is, especially among the Trumpetts. Expect Hate crimes to have an uptick in the next few days.

Everyday bring some sort of new drama with this man. I swear if Xanax was a crypto-currency I’d be rich.

Didn’t SCOTUS find DACA to be constitutional. I thought there was a lawsuit over it already.

Expanding the program to a larger group of undocumented youth, plus many of their parents, could have added up to five million people to the U.S. workforce. Instead, the Supreme Court’s deadlock in Texas v. United States means that a lower court’s decision to halt the program—and the possibility of legal job opportunities for many undocumented workers—still stands.
