    I'm a big fan of pixels and make a lot of pixel based crafts myself, but those pixelated 3d amigos (uhh….amiiibos - sorry, autocorrect) just look so damn ugly to me.

    For whatever reason, the previous owners rewired all the phone jacks in my house with cat-5 cable. Since I don't have a landline, I replaced all the phone jacks with ethernet jacks & connected up a switch where all the cables run together. Now I have gig-ethernet throughout the entire house and it's fucking wonderful!

    If you ever get the chance, go for wired ethernet. it kicks the crap out of wifi in terms of speed & reliability.

      For whatever reason, they previous owners of my house went and tore all of the phone and internet connections out of my house. So I don't have a landline either! Also, I don't really have a choice but to use wifi.

      (Also, they dude tore them all out in a drunken fit because his teenage daughter announced her boyfriend got her pregnant.)

    Never quite understood the point of those game guides. Looks pretty, but isn't the whole point of a game the challenge to make your way through it? And, I mean, if you DO get stuck….there's the internet.

      Back when I read them around the N64 era, they could be entertaining reads even apart from the information. The good ones knew that throwing in interesting facts and humorous anecdotes was always a good move, so I sometimes purchased them even after beating the game. Also, in the pre/crappy internet era, the guides offered nice screenshots and closer looks at the character models. I have no idea what they're like these days, though.

      I can see wanting the art, both in-game and concept stuff. Or even just elaborating on the story, characters, etc. Basically anything but being strictly a guide on how to beat the game.

    It's not amazon, but there is an incredible Humble Freedom Bundle right now that includes a lot of great recent indie games (stardew valley, the witness, subnautica, nuclear throne, and a bunch of other ones that look pretty decent) for 30 dollars. It's a good deal by itself, but the real kick is ALL of it goes to charity. You can choose between ACLU, Doctors Without Borders, and International Rescue Committee (give all your money to one or divide it). They also will match the first 300,000 (900,000 has already been reached).
