If this isn’t the prime example that (white) people who say “both whites and blacks are racist” or “there’s too much hate on all sides” do so in an attempt to make light of the hateful actions and policies perpetrated by white people, then I don’t know what is. This “many sides” or “all sides” rhetoric is just like “all lives”—a deflection from the acknowledgement of the prevalence of racism, and a direct attack on the voices of the marginalized who have their lives and security threatened simply for existing.

White people, all of you, have to wake up right now. You can no longer stand idly by while denigrating our peaceful movements as hatred, while those who look like you are showing up armed, actually threatening people, and taking their lives. You can no longer allow people like Trump and those other manipulative GOP bastards to take control of you because of your resentment. For everyone’s sake, but ultimately yours, this has to end. The hatred is not on us to stop—we only want equality. But if you continue to show yourselves incapable of dropping your hatred, if it’s really more convenient to suffer at the hands of the elites if you get to have your foot to our backs, then so be it. It may not be tomorrow, it may not be for decades, but people of colour in America will not—cannot—put up with this forever. It betrays any sense of humanity or justice to expect that.

Please, wake up and end this hatred. Otherwise all of us will burn.

They’ve been doing it for a while now. It’s just now they’re totally comfy being filmed by the press now while doing their “Heil Trump” salutes. Also, you know, a protest this large is better for ratings, so it’ll show up on major national news outlets. Doesn’t hurt it’s an East coast protest.

It’s sad that it took serious, lethal violence for the mainstream press to actually pay attention to white supremacist protesters when they were perfectly comfortable painting Black protesters and Black Lives Matter as violent, hateful and incapable of peace. It always struck me that you can easily find pictures of Trump supporters armed with anything they could find and police trucks full of weapons confiscated from clashes between them and Antifa—but nothing of the sort from Black protesters. The media only cares to push the narrative of Black criminalisation while never calling this hatred out for what it is in the name of some twisted “objectivity.”

Seriously, it can’t be that fucking hard to just say you don’t support Neo-Nazis when all this violence is going on. Trump supporters will probably just find a reason not to believe it and think he still supports them, so why not just say it. They think he walks on water, so he wouldn’t be burning bridges. Every time he gets a chance to do something easy that would win some points, he just can’t do it.

If he can’t get something like this right, it’s no wonder people don’t trust him to handle North Korea. Even Orrin Hatch was calling out white supremacists, that’s how low the bar is here.

Why would he say that? I don’t think he ever came out and said it during the campaign (today’s news is overwhelming my GoogleFu to confirm that) and we know he encouraged violence at his rallies. To Trump, this is more of the same - remember, he started campaigning for 2020 a few hours after the inauguration and still holds stupid fucking rallies so he can have his huge ego stroked.

Right wing terrorists make up the vast majority of attacks in the US, don’t get nearly as much news coverage, and are now basically being ignored by the government.

Of the 85 violent extremist incidents that resulted in death since September 12, 2001, far right wing violent extremist groups were responsible for 62 (73 percent) while radical Islamist violent extremists were responsible for 23 (27 percent).

    http://www.gao.gov/assets/690/683984.pdf

We argue that social identity is the largest predictor of news coverage, while target type, being arrested, and fatalities will also impact coverage. We examined news coverage from LexisNexis Academic and CNN.com for all terrorist attacks in the United States between 2011 and 2015. Controlling for target type, fatalities, and being arrested, attacks by Muslim perpetrators received, on average, 449% more coverage than other attacks. Given the disproportionate quantity of news coverage for these attacks, it is no wonder that people are afraid of the Muslim terrorist. More representative media coverage could help to bring public perception of terrorism in line with reality.

WASHINGTON/SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - The Trump administration wants to revamp and rename a U.S. government program designed to counter all violent ideologies so that it focuses solely on Islamist extremism, five people briefed on the matter told Reuters.

The program, “Countering Violent Extremism,” or CVE, would be changed to “Countering Islamic Extremism” or “Countering Radical Islamic Extremism,” the sources said, and would no longer target groups such as white supremacists who have also carried out bombings and shootings in the United States.

I’m about to start some shit right now, Jezebel has a thread in their SNS bitching about well, us.

The site that continuously ignores or downplays issues around WoC, ignores that we have different priorities, fucks up intersectionality day after day has the nerve to complain that we’re talking shit about white people in ways that are too broad. Yet it is no different than how they talk about men but these heifers apparently don’t recognize it.

All you heifers bitching about The Root are exactly the type of wypipo we complain about. You’re why “white allies” won the damn tournament in the first place.

“Oh they’re generalizing about white people too much I can’t go there anymore.”

If you don’t do the things being complained about then you’re not being talked about. If you feel some kind of way about it maybe you should look at your damn self instead of complaining about our complaints.

All these Beckies can fuck right on off.

I cannot even pray for America. I cannot even wish her well.

We root for the local sports team because that’s the team from our town. We go the that church because that is the religion we were brought up in. We love our country because that is the land of our birth, our home.

Maybe though, when your team gets caught cheating, or your church fights against progress or gets rolled up in a scandal, or when it becomes clear that your country of origin is also home to a bevy of bigots, controlled by the wealthy, and tolerant of murderous violence against the poor and people of color; maybe then the thought will come: “what if we’re not the good guys.” Maybe my team is no better than another and rooting for them is pointless. Maybe my church is full of the same faults and illusions as the church/temple/mosque down the street. Maybe my country is seriously flawed and getting no better. Maybe there is someplace better. Because this country just plain sucks, and all the flaws are becoming more obvious each day.

    “Many sides.”

You just had an America President ride the fence on a clear cut day of home grown Grade A for American terrorism. Are you fucking kidding me?

We better hear something from the CBC by the end of the day. I’m tired of the party politics and the “decency” of Capitol Hill. Our President acted like he didn’t want to hurt any of his supporters feelings, fuck that. Get off your asses and call this motherfucker out.
