    I’ve never heard anything good out of towns becoming company towns. I can’t imagine that this town will be any better off.

    I shan’t repeat what I said about how the legalization of weed is basically pushing Black people who the government loves to enslave incarcerate for having the stuff, out of the ability to enter the market legally. Those capital requirements are not as high as they are by accident.

      Nipton only remains today because it was the nearest town to Vegas that sold lotto tickets. Nevada has slot machines in every supermarket, but they don’t have a Lottery, and after the trading post in Nipton just over the California line got the lotto back in the 70s it quickly became the only surviving business in the town. Nowadays there’s a lotto store in Primm, directly on the state line about 40 minutes from Vegas, but when the jackpot is high and there’s a line out the door I’ll still drive to Nipton to buy a ticket.

    The gold rush was gentrification 1.0. The influx of white men looking for gold wiped the native population out by more than half at the time gold was discovered at Sutter’s Mill.

      On your way from LA to Las Vegas on the 15 you’ll pass by Zzyzx before you get to Nipton/Pot Town. That’s worse.
