    I don’t see how anyone can think the “Sharing” and “Gig” economy could be good for Black people in America, when it took the deployment of troops to allow black people to share schools with whites.

    Racism aside, is Airbnb really more convenient than hotels? I checked their listings recently for myself, and saw that hosts are rated by previous guests for “response time”. The listings I was interested in had host response times listed as 30-40%. So you request to book but there isn’t even a guarantee the host will respond to you?! Also for the several month stay I needed, I would be charged one month in advance while waiting to hear if the host would even reply back to me. So if I find a better place somewhere else I might get charged for the Airbnb room with no warning. I get wanting to stay in a residential area and saving money, but that business model is not convenient for me at all.

    Also, I read last week an Airbnb guest saw a rat in the property she was staying and she understandably refused to stay there. The host was incognito after several attempts to reach them, and Airbnb told her if she SENT THEM A PICTURE OF THE RAT and droppings, perhaps they would consider giving her a refund. There are too many Hiltons, Marriotts, hell even Best Westerns to take chances with my sanity like this.

      I stayed in a perfect 2 bedroom apartment in Hawaii for WAY cheaper than any hotel. It was great until the last day. It was raining outside and when I woke up there were roaches everywhere. All kinds.

    Airbnb Deactivates Accounts of People Set to Attend White Supremacist Rally in Va.

    Actions like that buy a lot more credibility than the ‘sign your friends up for cable and profit’ deal with the NAACP.

    Like I appreciate the attempt, but...I dont know. Black people dont really dont stuff like Airbnb (“I aint sleeping on some strangers couch” is a type of comment I’ve heard) and the ones that do face racism. So while its a good attempt, I feel its going to fall on deaf ears.
