The first response is violent confrontation? How incredibly uncharacteristic of police and the powers they prefer to use.

Two shots at this comment that doesn’t change the fact that Lefever would prefer to fight Chambers rather than talk things out. Which speaks towards actions we’ve seen too many officers resort to when better options were available.

Regardless of Chambers ownership of a boxing gym, I daresay the reason he bans Police Officers AND Active Military Members is precisely because of the testosterone fueled numbskullery on display by Lefever (and consequently, too many other active police officers).

So while you’re worried about my comprehension being that of a 6th Grader, I’m recognizing a disturbing pattern among members of organisations that are supposed to protect their communities, not be at fucking war with them.

I found, you sweat, you bleed with somebody, you exchange punches with somebody...it’s hard not to respect the guy for getting in there with you afterward.

Cops just shoot and beat down black people to show their respect for them! They’re just opening up a dialogue!

It all sounds quite primitive, frankly.

My dad once told me that people who feel the need to physically fight don’t have a brain in their head. This is coming from a black man who was born on a farm in rural Alabama, has a background in Engineering, and used to work as a stock broker in London.

      I’ll allow it.

This was added to their EAV facebook as well:

We want to clarify something important.

We do *not* ban veterans from our space. We do not ban active military because of any idea about any individual soldier.

*Our ban on active military comes from our unequivocal anti-war position, period.*

We believe that the United States armed forces have been and are the most sadistic and destructive entities the world has ever seen. We are the only nation ever to use nuclear weapons (unnecessarily, even in the eyes of General Eisenhower at the time); we maintain an occupying military presence in over 200 countries; we bomb civilians regularly, with impunity, and this is regardless of which capitalist political party is in power; we wage illegal proxy wars all over, create false flags and foment fake revolutions (most recently, Libya, Syria, Yemen); we have been in a state of perpetual war for decades, and our economic system sustains itself on the spoils of those wars.

What’s more, we, as a society, place our citizens in positions of abject poverty, give them a useless education, flood them with war games, and thereby coerce them into enlistment. Then they may die, or they are forced to take lives and lose friends needlessly.

With that in mind, we *do not wish to make any member of that machine stronger at our gym,* and we do not wish to fraternize with those still willfully participating in that project.

We do not want to improve your conditioning or strength, so that you may more efficiently murder Middle Eastern children, or North Koreans defending their sovereignty.

Veterans are welcome, and as we know well, more vets agree with these positions than just about any demographic out there.

End all war for profit, death to empire.

    Peace.

I mean... I’m kinda down with signing up just because. I don’t even live around there.

So the cop here was essentially taking the stance of “say that shit to my face” with no sense of self-awareness. No you guys aren’t just a glorified gang at all.

IMO, that’s a pretty good estimate of how things are shaking out right now. Cops are gangs that have been given the force of Law. And *some* gangs aspire to be a force of Law in their chosen zone. The difference is *supposed* to be that the Rule of Law constrains the Cops, and makes them better than the gangs. But Tribalism is a bitch, and we humans are too fucking succeptable to that shit. So Cops gonna Cop, and way too often, not give a single fuck about the consequences.

Right, that’s the best response to this, “I want to fight you because through conflict, we’ll understand each other. But more importantly, you’ll let me get my sweat on at your gym.”

Also, Chambers might not want to punch cops in the face. He just doesn’t want to be around them if he doesn’t need to be. One doesn’t equate to the other, bro.

    Clown ass.

“Also, Chambers might not want to punch cops in the face.”

This. The guy wants nothing to do with them, doesn’t require their respect or attention, just setting his own rules for his business.

The cops on the other hand, won’t sleep until they feel this man’s throat under their boot. They can’t fathom that people don’t respect them, or how they perform their jobs, and won’t rest until that goes unchallenged.
