  Right??? It’s a shame that I’m absolutely flabbergasted that a person in a position of authority recognized a wrong, acknowledged the wrong, and took appropriate action. I honestly expected the story to end with a half-assed non-statement and a picture of the person in charge going ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  I had a green card holding Guatemalan co-worker who one day just straight up said, “...Mexicans to Guatemalans are like Black people are to White people.” And I just had to go away. Like, I’m white, I’m used to people sharing their racist thoughts with me because they think I’m on board (it’s way too common), but this guy managed to offer up double racism that blew my mind. It was like he was doing a SAT racist-analogy section in person.
  If you can’t handle that most of our co-workers are Mexican, don’t bring that to me, the only white guy, as if we’re gonna bond over it. I don’t need intersectional racism in my life lol.
  Anyway, all that to say, don’t let “Perez” fool you. Not all POC are on the same page.

They always pull the “joke” card when they get caught.
Sovay insisted on Wednesday, “It wasn’t a noose. It was a fishing knot.”
The closest fishing knot this could be is an end loop, but I’m not getting the “joke” as this isn’t fishing line and they weren’t fishing.

  This is the question I’d like to pose to the bunch of merry pranksters.
  “Lets just say we all believe you idiots, and that it indeed was just a fishing knot. What was the joke?!? I mean, is Green obsessed with bass fishing or something? I’m no prude, I can enjoy the occasional off color joke (minus the noose of course). So please tell me, please explain what was so funny about a fishing knot?!? Answer... there’s nothing funny about a knot!”. Their explaination just doesn’t make sense. Even an 8 year old child would know this explaination just doesn’t pass the sniff test.
  Eta...I enjoy watching Judge Judy. I hate most of her political an social views. But she can offer up great advice sometimes. One gem is “if it doesn’t make sense, then it’s a lie”. And this whole “It was really just a fishing knot” is just a line of bullshit.

Goddamnit Florida. This pisses me off. ESPECIALLY as fire fighters. My Polish grandfather was the fire chief in his city in the 40's and 50's and 60's and he faced an uphill battle a LOT of times. He actively recruited the first black fireman for his station and brought in a few more over his tenure, but constantly, CONSTANTLY was facing down their discrimination as well as attacks against his person and his family. He drove our or fired several firemen because of that shit, and he was really ostracized for this over his career. He was politically forced out several times when new mayors of the city were elected, and every single time he was demoted and rose back to chief because of his character and personality. To read this shit happening today is no surprise, but it is beyond disappointing and disgusting. Fuck these guys, maybe they can go home now that they’re unemployed and jack off to pictures of their hero Trump and their goddess Kellyanne Conway. WTF America, come on, we need to start getting some balls and lets take on these racist fucks, throw them a blanket party, guys!
Boy, it would be funny if someone entered their homes and left a noose on their pillows in their bedrooms. That would be an awesome, hilarious joke.

I’m just glad the firefighter that the victim showed the picture to and the chief have acted to defend the victim. I can’t process what would be funny about this. “Oh haha, this is what we used to hang your ancestors with, got ya!”. You don’t do that to people. To top it off, these guys are supposed to be trusted with each other’s lives, and they joke about hanging him? I hope this shit follows them wherever they go.
