I’d have to double check, but off the top of my head, I have no idea why the parents of those cruel little cretins shouldn’t be sued for their offsprings’ assault on that child and be paying all her hospital and treatment bills.

A 12-year-old girl is being charged with felony assault in the case.

    Good.

Just the one? Who were her foul little accomplices?

I’m waiting for the boiling pot of hot grits thrown on your head challenge I guess. Humans are dumb.

The news station said that the sick stunt was part of what has been dubbed the “hot water challenge” in which an unsuspecting victim has hot water thrown on them.

I’m going to live to see the “can of Aqua Net and a lighter” challenge, aren’t I?

I don’t know if I’m remembering incorrectly but my friends and I did that shit when we were like 11 or 12. One of my buddies had just gotten his hands on a lighter, and we were discovering the flammability of anything we could get our hands on.

Long story short, I set my friends hair on fire. No one was hurt, but he had to shave his head.

Point of my story: we sure as fuck didn’t go and tell our friends to try it on other kids and call it a “challenge”. We cleaned that mess up and tried to hide it from everyone we came in contact with.

      *shakes fist at cloud*

I mean, hey, that was basically my room defense method in college (I was an R.A., we had a few low-grade riots that year, and I had a ground-floor window). It’s just...fuck, man...kids are stupid.

Yikes. How about next time you don’t like someone and they fall asleep at a sleepover you do what normal kids do, like assume a teabag position over their face and wake them with a methane infused trumpet blast?

That’s what normal kids do, right?

    Right?

Oh. Well then that definitely wasn’t an autobiographical comment at all then.

What happened to putting gum in the hair, or red ink in the chair? Or the old fashioned standby of spreading rumors that they were caught making out with a stuffed doll?

Initially I felt horribly guilty having so much anger towards a kid. But boiling water in the face is just some serial killer level shit!

My children will not be allowed unsupervised internet access or any social media accounts.

If the first one has to play outside by his or her damn self for years (while, I’m sure, I receive innumerable CPS visits for daring to allow a child outside alone), well, so be it.

It’s not a social media problem - it’s a parenting problem. The girls who did this were fine with playing a mean trick on a sleeping peer. They may have gotten the idea from social media, but the fact they actually carried it out is all on them.

It’s plenty of both, but you can’t tell me they would have attempted to murder this “friend” without social media influence.

I googled it, and this dumbass stunt has been spreading on YouTube for many years. Even just a few days ago, an 8 year old girl passed away drinking boiling water as a “challenge”.
