Hearing the unemployment numbers always irks me because they don’t take into account those folks who have already hit their unemployment compensation max but have not yet found employment. It’s misleading as hell.

The true unemployment rate would shock and embarrass most people.

These figures are lagging indicators and the results of policies and actions that predate Trump and go back to the Obama admin. Similarly the chart notes Obama had incredibly high unemployment figures in 2009, but that was due to the impact of the recession that occurred under Bush. So no, Trump aint do shit, which is why no one can name a law or policy or action he initiated that would have impacted employment figures this early in his presidency.

Just because the number of people collecting unemployment is down doesn’t mean that employment is up, it can just mean that people timed out and are off the unemployment insurance and are now uncounted-unemployed people.

If the Butternut-in-Chief wants glory points he needs to show the creation of jobs with livable wages and folks getting and keeping those jobs. Until then (let’s just say forever) no glory points at all for 45.

So Republicans fuck up the economy, Democrats fix it, and Republicans take the credit. Then many voters fall for the “Republicans are the party of responsible fiscal policy” because Americans are fucking stupid.

Black Unemployment Hits Historic Low. Should Trump Get Credit or Are We Getting Played?

I normally read the article before commenting, and I’m going to go back and read now, but my first gut reaction to this headline is, “Why is this even a question?” Trump hasn’t enacted any policy changes. Plus the economy was in decent shape, and unemployment was already down thanks to Obama. So what am I giving Trump credit for? For not fucking things up YET?

ETA: Ok, I just finished reading. I stand by my comment.

One other factor to this the might be taking place is that the Opioid epidemic may be having an impact. Jobs that typically went to white workers have not been filled because workers cannot pass drug tests. Manufacturers and other indistries have had to adjust their hiring practices, which historically didn’t include a ton of recruitment of people of color, in order to fill the jobs. Now, because of the ravages of Opiates and heroin, black workers are seeing job opportunities. Just a possible theory.

His supporters are flailing about in search of life preservers, so this will keep them buoyant for a bit.

Luckily, he’ll undo any smidgen of good will he amasses as soon as he opens his mouth next.

Remember that 560+ billion dollar 2018 defense budget that was being proposed with an additional ~30 billion? Well, congress is about to approve one even bigger.

The House and Senate Armed Services Committees are planning to propose a defense budget of $640 billion for 2018, a $37 billion increase over the Trump administration’s $603 billion request.

You wanna see black unemployment fluctuate? This will do it. Call your representative.

One thing that happens in a new relationship is that you start getting confused about who gets credit for what.

With the current occupant of the Shite House, there’s one easy question to find the truth…

Did it involve filing for bankruptcy?

If not, he had nothing to do with it.
