      Yeah, I’m reminded of Eileen Fulton (IIRC?) being physically assaulted by a stranger on the streets of NYC when her character was causing trouble on As the World Turns. It’s funny because Fulton can tell the story but sheesh.

      My grandmom (may she rest in peace) was a diehard Young & The Restless fan who hated Jill for stealing Mrs Chancellor’s (never knew why granny and her friends always referred to just this particular character this way) and even when the character was recast she still hated each subsequent actress with the same vigor that when one of the 4 or 5 women who played Jill was in a Abraham Lincoln miniseries she screamed at the TV “What the hell is that whore Jill doing messing around with Lincoln?” and turned the channel.

      I always figured it was because people watched soaps 5 days a week that they felt like the characters were more real or something but I guess its just people who don’t know how to separate real life from reel life.

    Sending hate mail and shit to actors... I don’t understand. Are screws not tightened correctly? Do people think that is funny? I’m confused.

      unfortunately, there is a large percentage of folk who can formally be declared “unhinged” by your local psychiatrist. the fact that they are functional units in society (meaning you may work with them side by side) doesn’t negate that their asses are just crazy.
