Now, now... sure, an energized press is a dangerous thing for a potentially very corrupt public figure... but let’s give some credit to Trump’s utter contempt for U.S. intelligence agencies, too.

It takes a lot of balls to threaten and insult the FBI, the NSA and the CIA to their faces, then practically DARE them to ‘come at me, bro.’

There’s a reason everyone was scared to fuck with J. Edgar for years.

Oh it’s even better than that. He’s doing all this while occasionally throwing his own people under the bus too. He flopped around on healthcare between attacking and defending Congressional Republicans. He just back-stabbed Sessions in an interview. And let’s not forget his long established practice of not paying people who work for him... like lawyers.

The list of people who could turn on him is just staggering.

The press seems to be FINALLY coming for him and print media, as usual, seems to be leading the way. Between the Post and NYT stories, the NYT’s running list of Trump lies, and Charles Blow putting his foot up Trump’s ass weekly, it’s starting to feel like they’re waking. TV is, of course, going to follow and haven’t learned their lesson yet (a boycott of the press conferences should have been started a long time ago) but... It’s coming.

No, they can’t boycott press conferences. That is PRECISELY what the Trump White House wants. Imagine the shit Trump would do if he knew the press wasn’t going to report on it? We’d have interment camps for brown people and anyone that didn’t vote for Trump already. Trump spied on his own fucking wife and made sure she voted for him on Election Day. The dude WANTS a 100% totalitarian regime. The reason the United States is the United States is not because of the POTUS, Congress, the House, etc. It’s because of the press.

A lesson that every other president seemed to learn without having to be told. Every time you jump down the throat of the media for saying something bad about you it only ensures that everyone believes it to be true. Or it at least makes you look like a chump. Even Bush Jr. knew not to pout and argue with the media every time they said something unflattering. If that guy can figure out...

Jesus, Drumpf is a goddamn child.

Everyone else that got elected was actually interested in doing the job, not just winning because it was fun to here people cheer for him. (OK not Warren Harding, but most everyone else really wanted the job)

Bush knew that complaining about the media was Fox News’s job. Or at least Rove explained that to him.

    Counterargument.

For the past 25+ years, the Right has been sowing the seeds of distrust in our news media and at the same time, they’ve created their own, parallel news (propaganda) machine. It been paying dividends since the 2000 election.

Since Obama’s election, those efforts has only increased. The “Lamestream” media is not to be trusted, they’re biased, etc. about everything. Only they (the right wing news media) are “fair and balanced” And guess what, it worked.

If the New York times printed the the sky was blue, about 1/3 of the country would disagree because the NYT is liberal and biased. Rather than critically think about a news report and what elements are true and biased, they’ve been trained to simply dismiss those articles as “fake news.”

Hell around 1/3 of Republicans aren’t sure if Trump Jr met with the Russians despite the fact that he f*cking admitted that he met with the Russians. Name your topic or issue: Climate change, Obama birth, Benghazi, etc.

The GOP knows this. So, if Mueller finds some nefarious shit, it won’t matter one bit because it’s not true unless/until Fox or Breitbart says it is. The GOP only has to react to those things that will pierce that bubble.

The cynical part of me says that Senator Yertle and Rep. Dudebro will be “concerned” and “alarmed” at the evidence presented. Then they’ll go back to their 15th attempt to screw people out of health insurance.

Trump is upset Mueller and the “fake news” are coming after his private affairs?

Too fucking bad, bro. You’re the idiot that decided to run for the highest position in civil service. I realize people don’t really care much when it comes to shady-ass real-estate deals that you are a slimy asshole, but when you’re sitting in the Oval Office - especially after the previous tenant who, while not necessarily perfect, certainly operated under the premise that he wanted to do what was right - people give a shit.

Trump is so monumentally full of ego, there is no room for any shred of intelligence, let alone rational thought. On the night of his inauguration, the bar around the corner from us held a “I, for one, welcome our new Russian overlords” themed party. I can’t wait to see what they do when Trump resigns or is forced out.
