    Why the fuck is he covering her mouth?

    If your job is supposedly to enforce the law and protect the peace, and your reaction to a 52 y/o woman selling flowers is to assault her, grab her by the hair, cover her mouth, and be so violent that you cause her to piss herself, you are doing something horribly wrong!

      100% sure the situation could have resolved with two short sentences:

      1: Do you have a permit to sell flowers?

      2. Can you not?

      And police wonder why they get so much shade thrown at them. I’m good with my tax dollars not going to enforcing these types of violations in place of more important crimes.

      I think she may not have spoken English. If she had, I feel like she would have said something to the officer during this altercation. He probably walked up, she moved away figuring he was telling her to leave, and he grabbed her. Of course she’s trying to get away - he’s approaching this like he’s about to sexually assault her. And I still want to know why the fuck he goes for her mouth!

    You know, I spent most of my career working with undocumented families, in that time I’ve had to ‘reinforce the law’ as a mandated reported an file a report to CPS. Because I have basic human empathy and adequate training I’m able to enforce my mandates while not needing to escalate it. If you treat people like humans rather than ‘violations’ you’re more apt to have people listen to you.

    On another note- I’m a mom and if I had to sell flowers to feed my kids I’d be FUCKING LIVID if you were basically trying to steal food from my kids mouth. I’d be yelling and cussing you out too.

    If these assholes can take Dylan Roof into custody without incident then they can handle a woman selling flowers.

    Hmm...must have missed this episode of ChiPs.

    EDIT: So fucking humiliating, too. How easy would it be to ignore someone selling flowers? It’s like people think it’s a disease instead of the mildest of inconveniences. “I have trouble saying no. Someone should do something about this!”

    Not surprised this happened. With it being Perris im pretty sure it was Riverside County sheriffs. They are something else, especially in the Moreno Valley/Perris area. I just watched them tow some Black girls car yesterday for no reason (that I could see).

    Whats weird though is that they cracked down on here for selling flowers, but just 5-6 miles down the street from the high school, they sell Tacos and bootleg dvds and blurays every weekend in fields by warehouses. Never cracked down on them. Ever. And they are selling food without a permit.

    Let’s assume everything the cops say about the lead up to the assault (let’s call it what it is), is true. The woman refused to give her correct name, was abusive, refused to accept the citation and pushed an officer. Bravo, so they legitimately have grounds to arrest her.

    So they have to arrest a middle-aged woman, for a non-violent offence. She is half the size of the cop and there is no indication she is armed, or likely to do anything more dangerous than swear and push. Take her gently by the arm, handcuff her with minimum possible force and start leading her toward the police car. If she starts to struggle, fight and refuses to walk, pick her up with minimum possible force and carry her toward the police car. What the fuck is wrong with these people???
