      The last couple of years has done a pretty spectacular job of destroying the illusion of America, period.

      (Edited after re-reading my own comment to add: I’m not at all intending to minimize the suffering of black Americans at the hands of law enforcement. But I was trying to think of an American institution or an American ideal in which I haven’t lost all or most of my faith over the last year or two, and it’s not a very long list.)

      That likely get’s quite tricky. Since it’s a government job there is likely some amount of first amendment protection. Additionally I doubt they check for who owns domain names as it isn’t something that is all that common.

    why is it always just fired. if i beat the shit out of someone, especially as a hate crime, i would be thrown in prison.

    cops beat or kill people and get paid administrative leave [neato bonus paid vacation!], financial settlements for the suffering and trauma they incur from beating someone and at worst just get fired MAYBE. but cops seldom do any jail time at all.

    perhaps cops are just thinking that they really would like to goto disneyworld for an extra week or two. wheres a little black kid i can shoot in the fucking head? oh wait! at the subway platform! im goin to disneyworld!

    fuck cops.

      Well that’s mostly because they have strong unions that usually require an investigation (by the contracts they have with the departments or cities) and or a conviction to actually strip pay. In the end the department is pretty much going to end up paying the salary regardless, it’s just a question of whether they pay legal fees and or contract violation penalties.

    I’m sure this was said in jest but this is sad.

    I wonder when the DVM-VII will be changed to include racism as a form of mental illness. Spending time obsessing over another race in a hateful manner has got have some ill effects on the body.

    Seems like our city council, while Ald. Burke is still at the helm of the Police/Fire committee, will still be paying out and taxes going higher. Talk about being just a messy as a messy bitch can be.
