    Adam is the best. I love him as a ballplayer, but I love him even more for the person he appears to be off the field - the guy who donates $20k to the Negro Leagues Museums, who donates time and money to Boys & Girls Clubs in Baltimore and San Diego, and who also isn’t afraid to speak out about things that matter to him.

    I live in Montréal now, but grew up in Brooklyn, relatively close to Ebbets Field, during the era of Jackie Robinson. We lived on Pacific Street, about eight blocks from where Robinson lived on McDonough.

    It’s a real charm to see this young man honoring the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, and thinking first about the kids in the area. Kudos to Adam Jones.

    I often think of the years of fine baseball performance lost to the American white audience by the refusal to allow so many great black players to participate.
