Wait. Apocalypse set things up for a Phoenix story, so:

    1. Does that mean Sansa and Arya will be X-Men together?

    2. Why do we have “New Mutants” when the batch of original mutants is just barely coming together as a team at this point?

You’re asking for logic in Fox’s X-Men plans. It’s not there. For all we know, this movie will take place a month before Logan and Storm will be the same age she was in Apocalypse. Bryan Singer will shrug at us. Then they’ll make a sequel.

What are you worried about? The X-Movies have always had a well thought out and have never had inconsistencies or character recastings.

Wait. New Mutants doesn’t take place after Logan?! I mean I know their cinematic continuity is bananas anyways, but that was kind of the whole point (well one of the points anyways) of the film right? Down to Professor X repeatedly saying things like... “There are new mutants.”?! I was rather looking forward to a pared down, no world ending sky portal, mutant team movie.

I’d be willing to bet that they’re setting up X-Factor after Logan (considering Rictor’s role n’stuff), not New Mutants.

Pretty sure Logan is to be taken as a final story for the current version of Wolverine. It not suppose to really connect to any of the other films currently in development.

I think this is great news... but I can’t help but laugh at them essentially casting Anya as a witch and Maisie as a werewolf.

Game of Thrones: Maisie Williams I am sorry but we will not let Arya Stark be a warg, that’d just be way too many wargs on the show

The New Mutants: Frak yes be a warg, be a warg all the time, go for it

Previous reports circulating Taylor-Joy and Willams’ involvement also stated that Alexandra Shipp would reprise her X-Men: Apocalypse role of Storm in the movie, joined by James McAvoy as Professor X, but THR’s report does not mention either actor as being linked to the film.

You know, if it was modern day and in the Deadpool continuity, it could work. They already have Colossus established there and it seems ripe for fresh stories.

Honestly I don’t really know that the movies are following any sort of rigorous chronology at this point.

I like Maisie Williams, but I wish they’d gotten someone younger, like 13, for Wolfsbane. A natural redhead would have been nice, too.

The last time they put a GoT actress in an X-men movie it was a total disaster. Hopefully this isn’t history repeating itself.

Allegedly the writing has been underway for quite some time, as well as negotiations for casting. If they do something that isn’t a special effects extravaganza then I can see them pulling of something on the scale of Deadpool or Logan.

Holy crap, that is some spot-on casting... The instant I saw Maisie was playing Rahne, it was like... duh. Bravo.

Not really. Karen Gillan as Wolfsbane - had she not, alas, already been playing Nebula - would have been more spot on.

She’s too old for it now. Technically, so is Maisie, but she’s a lot closer.

First she was terrorized by a witch, now she is a witch! Irony!

In any case: good casting choices. I am eagerly anticipating this film.

I don’t know about all of this, to be honest. I like this casting news, but if they’re sticking with the current plan it’s really weird that the New Mutants are the same age as the mainline X-Men team.

maisie as rahne is blech. Im guessing Wolfsbane is more prominent that she was in the early comics. As Cypher will he die halfway or at the end?
