This is why folks that are in Los Angeles need to get out and vote on May 16th NO on Charter Amendment C!!

Another editorial by the LA Times just called it “a union ploy to go soft on police misconduct”—which is exactly what it is.https://www.google.com/amp/www.latimes.com/opinion/editorials/la-ed-no-on-c-20170510-story,amp.html

The police union is trying to get this to masquerade as civilian oversight, but it is NOT THAT. See http://www.nooncharterc.org for the facts on this deceptive measure.

Everyone in the progressive community in LA is against it from ACLU to BLM to labor groups like UTLA and National Day Laborers Organizing Network to religious organizations like SCLC and the Black-Jewish Justice Alliance and Bend the Arc to democratic clubs like the East Area Progressive Democrats and Miracle Mike Democrats and the League of Women Voters. Over 70 groups and local leaders have come out in opposition. Literally the only folks in support are the police union and politicians and they are just relying that their deceptive campaign, spending almost a million dollars, will confuse enough voters to grant them the win.

Every vote counts!!! Please get out and vote on May 16 NO ON CHARTER AMENDMENT C and spread the word.

Random question; if so many people were against it, why did nobody author an official rebuttal to it? I got the official mailer the other day, but didn’t know anything about it. I read through it, it seemed pretty benign, and there was no official rebuttal argument against it. How did that happen?

This measure was strategically placed on the ballot on the LAST DAY possible to get onto the May 16th ballot—despite the police union working WITH the mayor and city council for over 2 years to craft this measure.

The deadline for getting into the ballot guide was a few days after the vote, and the groups opposed got caught flat footed and were not aware of the deadline at the time. Also despite Herb Wesson knowing about our opposition (from a direct meeting with him and comments at the hearing) did not reach out to us when his office “called” for groups to come forward as opponents or sponsors. Curiously, the Police Protective Union did get notice and submitted their application with the call from Wesson.

So, it seems all strategic to ensure that there is the maximum amount of misinformation out there. Democracy at work, folks!

Here is a list of current organizations against: https://www.nooncharterc.org/endorsements/

And here are more FACTS about the measure: https://www.nooncharterc.org/about/

I hope he gets the bag. I support anyone who isn’t afraid of making a police department run their pockets.

I’m glad he’s still alive, so he can file the lawsuit. We can’t say that about all BLM protestors.
