“incredibly disrespectful”. The only respect you are owed is the respect you earn. This was a bad idea, but don’t frame it as, “he’s the President, you must respect him.”

This isn’t about respecting or disrespecting him; this is about going down to their level and we should be better than that.

The “take the high road” mentality is what Dems have been following for years now. All it’s accomplished is the loss of every branch of the federal government and most state governments to the GOP. I agree that’s what we *should* do, but it’s obviously not working. The GOP fights dirty, lies, obstructs, smears and cheats, and it’s working for them.

I understand and feel for the teacher trying to make a statement that was important to them, but there really was no other outcome for something like this in a public school.

Yeah, as much as it pains me to admit it. If you want to do it in your backyard (or make an iPhone/Android app), knock yourself out. School? Best not to.

I’m sure the Free Speech Police who are SO CONCERNED with free speech oppression will be rallying to this teacher’s defense immediately right?

Okay, so ... let me make sure I have this straight.

THAT teacher has been placed on leave, but THESE students are suing their school - and being defended for doing so in comments - with folks waving their hands and running around screaming “FREEZE PEACH !11!!”

    ???

    IDGI.

Typical amateur Americans… I’ll let the good folk of Lewes in Sussex show you how it’s done!

BTW; the town has seven different societies so there’s normally a range of topical figures burnt in effigy, as well as Mr Fawkes and Pope Paul V.

2015 - they burned a naked David Cameron after fucking a pig skull (no, really!), Jeremy Clarkson and Sepp Blatter.

    2016 - they torched 4 separate Trumps!

Let’s check, if they were smashing an Obama piñata, would Fox News cover it the same way? No, they’d flip at the “suppression of free speech” against teachers and students.

It’s truly breathtaking how Fox News can flip all their principles every 8 years within the span of a week.
