Finally watched it, and IT WAS AMAZING!!! About 15 minutes in I began to wonder if the whole hour would be watching Harriet tell her story (instead of flashbacks) and at 17 minutes in I realized that’s exactly what it was, and it would be riveting!

As a kid I had read books on Tubman and knew about her sleeping spells, but they left out the part where she went to rescue her husband and he refused to leave his (replacement for Harriet) wife. Understandable why kid’s books wouldn’t mention it, but it seems like a heartbreaking critical piece of who she was.

At the end of the episode when Harriet looked into the audience, I sat up straight in my seat and listened to General Tubman. I suspect I’m not the only one.

And that final screen (which I can’t find anywhere on line) thanking Arminita Ross, just... wow. If this show was better known (I still don’t know who to blame for that), I’d be certain of several Emmy nominations for this episode and Aisha Hinds’ win for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama.

At the end of season 1 when Harriet stretched out her hand and introduced herself, the potential for season 2 began to build. So far we’ve seen her as part of Rosalee’s story but haven’t gotten to watch Harriet Tubman’s story, looks like we’re getting it.

(sorry, I know this isn’t much of a comment but the rest are spam and one of my favorite shows deserves better).

That ending scene was so awesome. Both myself and the person I was watching with had a simultaneous shout of surprise and joy when we heard her name.

It’s a really, really great show and I do wish it were getting more coverage in general.
