De Blasio is up for reelection. Glad to see he came around, if at a convenient tim.

I am 100% behind closing Rikers which has symbolized the very worst of mass incarceration and its harm to Black and Brown peoples. Supervised release is a start but supportive services for people integrating back into their communities is far better. Transition to work, work readiness, remedial education, housing, healthcare - this is what the formerly incarcerated need to thrive otherwise they recidivate.

where are you based? i may have wrongfully assumed the south.

i’d like to get your opinion on supportive services for those accused of sexual offenses. in long island - folks that must register are forced to live as pariahs.

oh & fuck de blasio.... he gets a pass because he’s married to a black woman but he’s been a disaster by all metrics. it’s a shame that there’s no competent challenger in the democratic primary (which is the de facto mayoral race). i drank the kool aid and voted for him once (did not want christine quinn)

I’m pretty sure that the Kalief Browder story has something to do with the timing. Its a shame what happened to that boy.
