You’re only one year older than me, but we seem to remember very different versions of events. Pioneer? What did Keyshia do that Mary J. hadn’t already done? Yodel? (And that’s not shade. I still enjoy “Love.”)

I think The Way it Is record was/is responsible for most of Keyshia’s fan base. In fact, after a slight peak with Just Like You, her record sales steadily declined after the show’s premiere. Most people I know didn’t like her as a cast member.

I do wish Keyshia the best. But I wonder about her audience? I know that I have moved on from the girl I was when The Way it Is was released. Back then, I played that album on repeat, told everyone I knew to buy it, and paid to see her in concert. I hope she’s evolved musically because I wouldn’t do any of that today.

I did like “Trust and Believe” and “Enough of No Love” off the last project enough to buy them. But I’m not feeling this single.

I enjoy Love, too. Only because its catchy af. I feel the same way about her audience. Who is her music for? I feel like she doesnt know either.

Yes! And that’s her main problem! I think both Keyshia and Ciara tried to change their images before their fan bases were solidified and, as a result, ended up losing the people who were invested in their music. They are both so inconsistent. You never know what you’re going to get from them.

One of the best examples of people who completely changed their image and were successful that I can think of is Mariah Carey. And she was on like her 5th record before she even dipped her toe into the adult contemp./R&B pond by working with ODB and Boyz II Men.
