God damnit, I’m having the same problem, too. I just finished spring cleaning a few days ago and already it’s so dusty in here my eyes are watering.

Why is someone who is as kind and loving as that young man... not in charge of our country, or a multinational corp, or at least my city!

Because, you silly person, compassion is for losers, and only Winners get to run things. We do not value kindness, or giving, or humility. We value avarice and ruthlessness. A real Winner would have laughed and maybe mimicked her while she suffered, and then gone off to the golf course to tell his rich friends about how she’s probably sucking the system dry with her yooge disability checks, and that if she really wanted to get better she could. All she’d have to do is get a better job so she can get the premium healthcare package and they probably make a pill for that.

This is the attraction of wealth and privilege for a lot of people - if you ever get that rich, you don’t have to ignore other people’s suffering anymore - you can simply forget it even exists. And somehow, the ability to do that seems so blissful to so many people that they aspire to it, and honor it, and worship it as if it is the epitome of human accomplishment.

“IHOP Executive Director of Communications Stephanie Peterson told the network that she heard through the franchisee and the team that this behavior is kind of in [Thomas’] nature. This goes completely against IHOP corporate policy, and his actions are explicitly forbidden in the employee manual, page 143, section 3, bullet point 6. Mr. Thomas is no longer employed with IHOP or any of our affiliates.”

Usually any time an employee helps out someone or does something that is not strictly by the book, you read about them being fired immediately for not following corporate policy.

    http://www.thismess.net/2017/03/restaurant-photos-without-consent-again.html

I spoke to Dotson over FB messenger:

Me: did you ask their permission before taking the photo?

    Keshia
I did not, I honestly didn’t even think about it. I just wanted to forward it to corporate so the server would be recognized for his customer service skills, I never dreamed that it would go viral like it did.

    David
After it went viral, did you reach out to the disabled person if they wanted people to see them being fed? Or to the server?

    Keshia
I have not spoken to either, no.

    David
A lot of disabled people are criticizing you for violating this woman’s privacy. I wonder if you have any thoughts about that? Would you want such an intimate vulnerable moment shared without your consent?

    Keshia
No harm was meant, it was a gesture intended with the up most innocence. But I have to get back to work, thank you for your interest in the story.

    David
Right. But those disabled people would like you to take that picture down or get consent to share it.

Yeah it does seem like her face should have been blurred/covered at least if it’s going on a public page.

But then if this is something they regularly do in public then she’s maybe not too bothered about people seeing?

Well technically it’s in public sadly, she has no legal right to privacy.

A restaurant story that doesn’t involve someone writing something on a receipt/bill?

    Crazy world.
