Why are you still married to him, Tiffany?

And whoever at the Sheriff’s office thought it was a good idea to allow this to get this far without an immediate legitimate option for this woman, needs to be fired.

And... you might not want to be an officer of the law, Tiffany.

Truly. Like, why would that even be your choice for a career?
Does she know how much she’d be targeted?

its really tragic when you are judged or held accountable for someone else’s actions, just because you are associated with them in some tangential way - family, community, etc.

Well she could have chosen to distance herself from her child-killing husband. And I have allllllllllllll the cynicism in the world behind me when I say, if she was working at a jail, she would be abusive. Like finds like.

Or because of one’s race as many whites tend to do to black folk.

So even a sheriff’s department (which aren’t exactly known for its high standards not for nothing) won’t even go near you because of your shitty husband? Hmm.

I tried as hard as I could, but I was unable to cultivate any fucks for this woman. Her daughter maybe, but not her. You can’t choose your parents, but you can choose who you’re with and your proximity to their shit.

All I know is that whatever the Van Dyke family is going through doesn’t compare to the pain and emptiness Laquan McDonald’s family has had to bear and fight through for over 2 years.

Honestly, the Sheriff is doing the right thing here. If she were allowed to work in corrections around people who might feel inclined to exact revenge on her husband by beating, maiming, raping her, one would imagine a lawsuit would follow saddling the taxpayers with a financial burden because the Sheriff “should have known she would be a target and did not adequately protect her.” or some such shit.

I might be reading the information incorrectly but it seems that the Cook County Sheriff’s office is an “at will” employer, so if that’s true, they don’t actually need any kind of reason to let someone go.

The solution seems to be that she needs to start using her maiden name and she needs to transfer her children out to a different school while having them use her maiden name.

    Also, divorce.

Hmmm...must be uncool to have to answer for someone in your “group” purely because you share some trait, relationship. I’m sure it isn’t black and white.

And, yes, it must be difficult to care for your family. Let’s ask Laquan how he’s able to provide for his...oh wait..
