which would trigger the ubiquitous Amber Alerts that are not being used with the missing D.C. teens.

Which is probably a good thing. The only times I see amber alerts are when they have specific information. Like a suspect’s name and description, or car make and model, or a license plate, but if I got a 100 amber alerts a month with vague information, I’d probably end up turning my phone off completely or at least figuring out a way to disable them.

True, and.. I’d rather get too much than...zero for thousands of missing girls.

I’d rather get alerts for people who have a chance than 1000 a month for people who may or may not actually be in danger

Had any of the missing girls considered not venturing outside?

I mean, if they really didn’t want to be abducted, why did they leave their homes? It’s really their own fault and I don’t think that we should be wasting time, money, or other police resources in trying to help girls who put themselves at risk by daring to leave the relative safety of their homes.
