Why didn’t a reporter simply respond, as someone in the House of Commons would: BOOOOOOOOOOO! And: “The gentleman here, quite a wanker, is thoroughly out of his league, a fat bald faced liar, terrible in bed - when he’s with himself, much less with a lady - and in desperate need of hair plugs like his boss, hasn’t had an honest day since taking this role, and probably also in his entire life”.

Fuck our onsite “press” idiots for playing along for the past year..

That is “right honorable gentleman” for you, uppity colonial tosser.

Maybe they should have Trump sit on a woolsack, like the Lord Chancellor in the House of Lords. He could bring his bathrobe.

They took over a week to come up with this. OVER A WEEK to come up with this sad, gaslit “explanation.”

And it’s not even a real explanation.

“I think there’s no question that the Obama administration, that there were actions about surveillance and other activities that occurred in the 2016 election,” Spicer said, CNN notes.

That little pause, that little change of direction between “Obama administration” and “that there were actions” are two unconnected sentences made to seem connected. “That there actions about surveillance” could refer to Obama, but there’s enough wiggle room that it might not. This shit allow liars to keep the main issue in your head without actually lying or changing their story. But it’s a big change and they know how to play words.

Tl,dr version: They suck and I hope they have trouble sleeping at night.

In very sorry for any confusion that I caused, or any grief that I caused the Obama family. I heard what turned out to be an unsubstantiated rumor that the Obama Administration had wiretapped my place, and immediately took to Twitter to vent. I am used to being a private citizen, and did not mean to make a more serious allegation so lightly. For many citizens, Twitter is usually a place for more frivolous discussions and venting. I am not just any citizen however. I take my role the great people of America entrusted to me very seriously. In the future, I will ensure that any such allegations are thoroughly investigated before I post on Twitter, as is befitting this office. The American people deserve better. This has only served to distract from the real issues that plague Americans, that I will continue to dedicate my time in the Presidency to fighting.

-Insert speech here about Maga, jobs, blah blah blah-

There done. That’s all it would take. This isn’t that hard. Just admit that it isn’t true, and stop wasting everyone’s time.

“to provide evidence to the House Intelligence Committee to back up Trump’s claim. The White House has so far refused to provide any evidence.” How hard is it to email a link to a Breitbart alt-fact post? Trump asked Congress to spend tax dollars and man-hours investigating Obama’s wire-tapppping of him, and apparently they are going to do it, so it’s a bit late for “no, see, what he *meant* was...”

What I’ve been wondering is moreso exactly how long it took them to come up with this particular strategy for trying to walk back the claim.

I imagine Spicer, Trump, Conway, Kushner & Priebus all standing around a whiteboard with a bunch of scribbles of lines and arrows trying to come up with some convoluted series of claims that obfuscate what was going on, and then Bannon walks in out of nowhere and drops this strategy and Trump seizes on it because he’s tired and wants to finish up the discussion so he can have his mid-afternoon juice & snack.

Don’t these people, I mean, all of them, the politicians, the pundits, the journalists - feel silly and ridiculous always maintaining this facade, pretending day after day that the emperor is wearing clothes, while everyone can see that he’s butt naked in his wobbly orange shell?

    What a farce.

How will we get through four more years of this shit?

The damage has already been done since racist white people are quick to believe any accusation against a Black person no matter how ridiculous it sounds.
