    i was a kid of the 70s so i totally remember Sister Sledge. though i never thought of We are Family as a “black family anthem”. it seemed more universal than that but i guess i was wrong.

      I’m not saying it’s NOT universal. I am just saying that ONE of the things it is is something played at many black gatherings. No one means to exclude you. Take it easy.

    :-( one of my favorite memories is dancing as a little girl to “He’s the Greatest Dancer”. My parents loved Sister Sledge and passed that on to me.
